The U-Turn Flyover at the Murtala Mohammed Airport Road, Lagos has been closed to traffic.

The closure of the bridge comes less than a week after it was commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, April 24, 2019.

The Murtala Mohammed Airport Road was part of the projects the President inaugurated during his one-day visit to the state.

Other projects inaugurated by the President included the multi-level Oshodi Transport Interchange; the 170-bed Ayinke House (Maternity Hospital)) at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH ) Ikeja; and the Lagos State Theatre at Oregun.

Gov Akinwunmi Ambode had during the commissioning of the Murtala Mohammed Airport Road said the U-Turn Flyover would be open for public use immediately, while the two flyovers would be open for use from May 10 after the quality assurance work is completed.

However, motorists were only allowed to make use of the U-Turn Flyover for just two days before the contractor handling the project, HiTech, closed the bridge

The closure was to enable the company complete work on the flyover, which was not fully ready before it was commissioned by the President on Wednesday.

When our correspondent visited the place on Monday, workers were seen working on the bridge.

Aside the flyover, construction works were still ongoing at different sections of the road.
