Arsenal play hosts to Valencia at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals, with manager Unai Emery facing his old team whom he led to Champions League qualification for three seasons in a row. 3. Emery revisits Valencia
Unai Emery was manager at Valencia for four years, and although he did not win any trophies with the team he did guide them to Champions League qualification for three consecutive seasons. With the game at the Emirates Stadium, the sentiment factor is a bit less, and Emery would want to make use of that as the second leg would be a completely different atmosphere.
2. No more Ramsey
Aaron Ramsey has played his last game for Arsenal after the club and the player confirmed that the injury he suffered would keep him out of the side for the rest of the season. With his absence, there is a massive gap to fill in midfield.


Mesut Ozil is likely to take up that spot in the home game, but it remains to be seen who will step up for the second leg.
1. Champions League hopes
Both teams are battling for a place in the top four in their respective leagues. Valencia are in sixth place and three points behind Getafe, whereas Arsenal threw away three opportunities to consolidate their position in the top four and remain in fifth place. For both the sides, the Europa League still remains the best chance for Champions League football.
