This thread is a definition of "May Nigeria never happen to us"

People might argue that costs of vehicles have increased all over the world, but Naija case is peculiar due to falling Naira.

A car that cost $3k few years ago at $200/N would be 600k Naira excluding shipping and clearing fees.

If the car is now $4500 (assuming 50% increase) due to inflation in car cost all over the world, ideally, @$200/N, if the Naira is relatively stable against dollar, the new car price should be N900,000.

But in the case of naija; now, a dollar is N700+.
Assuming same inflation rate of 50%, the price of the same car which could have cost N900,000 with stable currency is now $4500*700 = N3,150,000

That's why Corolla which was about 1.2m - 1.5m few years ago is now 4m or thereabout.

Naija situation isn't just as a result of general inflation in cost prices but a combined effect of GENERAL INFLATION and DEEPLY FALLING Naira.

I'm not saying OP is out of business, I believe he must have established relationships with some clients off-thread whom he still helps source for cars but the general level of patronage has clearly dropped and affected this business.

I PRAY every business that has suffered in these hard times resuscitate soon.

MAY NIGERIA NEVER HAPPEN TO US

THANK YOU. and this applies to all business who rely heavily on imports.

To think that I sold my few months used 2010 Camry just 2+ years ago at this same price says a lot about what this economy has turned into.

Let's get our PVC and vote wisely this time o! Kai!

The battery is not his fault as a car sitting that long especially with covid delays will likely need a replacement battery. His track record also does not suggest that he would go out of his way to scam you especially for trivial things like an oil change that only costs $19-39 to do here. The biggest thing I see is lack of communication but given the number of views this thread has and the number of requests I suspect he gets, I ain't even mad.

If you're that unhappy return the car as he offered for a refund and I'LL reimburse you what's left over if you provide a receipt. Then I consider the matter dropped.

Mumu talk!

Trying to exonerate Tinubu from this failed government. You talk as though Tinubu never knew Buhari was a bad market but because of his selfish interest and hate against his fellow southerner he had to push the old man on Nigerians. Now, the chips are down and you are crying foul.

For your information, Tinubu would never win. Worst come to worst, we'll settle for Atiku.

Let the old man go home and rest. We don't need another globetrotter as a president.

Guy rest. Tinubu brought buhari and we all voted for him. I could even remember people saying that if it is only nepa bill he presented then that they will still vote for him. Another election is around the corner now and we want to vote with sentiment again and repeat the same mistake.

Who is the "you" you refer to? Isn't APC the ruling party? Isn't Tinubu a national leader at APC? Wasn't Buhari foisted on us by Tinubu? He hasn't entered and the blame game has started already. For some of us, we will definitely have choices when the chips are down.

Am thinking low-priced cars can be a good deal for the Nigerian market. These cars will usually have any of the following characteristics:

Clean titles
High Mileage
Minor faults, etc.

For example, the 2007 Honda Accord below can land in Nigeria for 700k (purchase price and shipping. You arrange and pay for cost of clearing). Has a mileage of 383,000.

Generally, the clearing cost for shipping will depend on the age, model, type, etc of the vehicle and will range from N300k to about N600k.

If you are interested in any of the vehicles, Call/Whatsapp - +1437 221 5476

Let it be on record that this thread was almost dead as Buhari leaves office but was revived with Tinubu's policies on importation.
