MINNA—The National Examinations Council, NECO, has released the June/July Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, SSCE, within 68 days but with another mass failure results.

Less than 25 percent of the total candidates of 1,132,357 that sat for the examination passed in English Language and Mathematics.

Registrar/Chief Executive of the council, Professor Promise Okpala who announced the release of the results in Minna, yesterday, said 245,890 candidates or 21.54 percent of the 1,132,357 candidates passed English Language at distinction and credit level, while 599,911 candidates had passes and 203,875 candidates failed the subject.

A breakdown of Mathematics result shows that only 285,146 or 24.9 percent recorded distinction and credit level while 44.8 percent had passes and 249,562 failed.

In Biology, out of 1,137,906 candidates that sat for the examination, 502,677 or 44.17 recorded distinction and credit grades while 316,249 candidates had passes and 225,055 failed the subject.

The breakdown further showed that in Physics, 30.4 percent had distinction and credit, 37 percent recorded credit in Chemistry.

Professor Okpalla said that 615,010 cases of malpractices were recorded throughout the nation.
