Many distribution Companies (Electricity Discos) have begun the roll out of Prepaid meters under the Meter Acquisition Program of the government.

MAP is a scheme approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) through a regulation meant for the provision, supply, installation and maintenance of end-user meters by Meter Asset Providers with a view to fast track a closure of the metering gap and end estimated billing in Nigeria. It is to be noted that there are no free meters even under the current tariff regime as all customers, including those on estimated billing, currently pay for a return on the investment made by electricity distribution companies on meters in their networks.

The electricity bill of customers provided with a meter under the new regulatory framework shall comprise of two (2) parts – energy charge and metering service charge. The payment of metering service charge will be removed from the customer electricity bill upon the full amortisation of the meter asset over its useful life. All faulty meters are expected to be repaired or replaced free of charge within two working days, except in instances where it is established that the customer is responsible for the damaged meter.

With this new development, why not join Vuvaa Energy and position yourself to become a service provider !

I dont think a good decision. Having a prepaid electricity will allow the consumer to manage their finances in dealing electricity. Its like in Texas where prepaid electricity is allowed and widely use by many customers.

If you think a little deeper, you will understand it does.
If you go round your area, that is if you are living within an area with people using prepaid meter and those not using prepaid meter, you would understand that those using prepaid meters have more stable or regular electricity than those in areas without prepaid meter, have you ever attempt to asked yourself why isn't like that? With prepaid meter, electricity will be almost like network access. If you make the light available, you will generate money from my area to pay your staff, if you don't then forget any thought of you getting money from my area to pay your idle staffs and founding your flamboyant life style.
When was the last time you called mtn, glo or 9mobile to come and fix their mast in your area to enable you make call?

some people do not understand that circulation of Prepaid meter will bring stability of electricity to some level in this country, why? because if they don't provide light regularly their credit cards will not got finished easily ànd if the card does not got finished fast how would they be able to get more money to run their organisation?

so circulation of pre meter is very important for the improvement of Electricity in Country, thanks
