The Union ,which blamed epileptic power supply on failed management , also demanded for removal of the Managing Director of TCN ,it claimed is as "Saboteur ". The Trade Union Congress that earlier gave a statutory notice to government agencies on the MD's violation of negotiated conditions of service ,impunity and destruction of unions, accused the Minister of Power and the Managing Director of TCN of sabotaging all efforts to provide stable power supply , said it has been on the struggle to compel the management to take all measures and necessary actions to ensure steady power supply in Nigeria for the last 13 months. " Nigerians should know that there is an agent who is meant on destroying the power sector, it is a national struggle to free Nigerians from hold of TCN's Managing Director , U . G. Mohammed ." it added . However in its Ten Points demands the Union insisted that TCN's management must , "withdraw of Queries issued to SSAEAC Officers, disband illegal COS review committee, withdraw all Circulars on Labour matters, review all promotions, review transfer and sanction in the last one year as well as Restoration of rights of SSAEAC including check off dues of members. Others are :processing of vehicle and other supports given to other union or illegal given to expelled SSAEAC members, reconciliation of SSAEAC check off remittances since January 2017, institution of disciplinary proceedings against expelled SSAEAC members for gross indiscipline and usurpation of authority and account of all 735 Containers cleared from the ports, account of all donor monies received since January 2016 and removal of U. G. Mohammed . According to the Union , industrial action continues until all demands are met called on staff to join fight the Managing Director. Kaduna State TUC Chairman, Comrade Mohammed Shehu who led members of the union to the TCN site at Mando had pad locked the gate of the TCN which was broken by the said members of NUEE allegedly on the orders of the State Chairman of NUEE. Comrade Ephraim James. Addressing members of the Union during the protest , the TUC Chairman, Comrade Shehu Mohammed accused the managing director of TCN of running an anti people administration, stressing that the TUC is picketing the TCN office partly to enforce rights of unionism among others. " Today we are here on the orders of the National body of the TUC to draw the Federal government attention to happenings in the TCN which if not addressed urgently might lead to organizational collapse. " As Trade Union Congress, we are committed to the development of organization and enhancing members capacity" adding that the picketing will continue today (Tuesday) until the National body gives further directives. While the TUC members displayed placards carrying various inscription against the managing director of TCN and seeking for his removal, the TCN workers some of whom were wearing NUEE face caps also carried placards in support of the MD and calling for the sack of the President General of the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC).

This picketting by labour is casting them in bad light. Its a more worthy cause if they insist on metering of all electricity consumer as this will not only abrogate estimated billing but save Nigerians from paying for the darkness (power not consumed). |
