Uncommon Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on Infrastructure, Otonye Briggs, yesterday, told the Justice Monima Danagogo-drove Judicial Commission of Inquiry that the Nigerian Army detained him for 11 days and denied him the privilege to play out his city obligation amid the March 9 race.

The commission was initiated by Governor Wike to examine the remote and quick reasons for appointive viciousness, killings and other related acts that happened amid the February 23 and March 9, presidential, governorship and House of Assembly races individually, in Rivers.

Briggs blamed the 6 Division for the Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, for denying him to play out his obligation as the returning and grouping specialist of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, for governorship survey.

He blamed chieftains for the resistance in the zone of being the driving forces of the evil treatment dispensed to him by the military.

"On March 9, I went out to complete my community duty since it was a race day.

"In all respects early morning on that day, I dressed by 7 am to go to the RAC focus, where the race materials should be conveyed.

"I was the returning/examination operator of PDP in Akuku-Toru committee. Given that position, I should be available at the RAC focus to observe how the race materials would be dispersed to the units and wards for the decision to start.

"Four military vehicles headed to where I was with around 15-20 military vehicles. I found in one of the Army vehicles, an officer wearing a white T-shirt and pointed at me as one of the PDP pioneers. The Army officers looked at their firearms at me and said I was set to be taken to jail.

"They captured me, denying me the chance to release my task as PDP returning and assemblage specialist for governorship decision on that March 9 race.

"It was on March 19, or 20, that a court request was made. Rather than Army to discharge me dependent on court request, they released me to FSARS. I sent a message to my legal counselor.

"It was FSARS that discharged me dependent on the court request after I was detained for 11 days in cells," he told the commission.

Essentially, the Akuku-Toru chamber Secretary and Leader of Ward 14, Obama Tobins, told the commission of request that more than 70 fighters, with eight Hilux vans, attacked his living arrangement looking for the board Chairman, Rowland Sekibo, and different chieftains of the resistance in the region.
