Advice needed!
I have a express entry profile(CRS@420) but hoping to improve the score.
Right now I want to make a CANADIAN Visiting visa application for the family.
I am not sure how having an EE profile would impact the visa office's decision in issuing the VISA? Please someone to help!
Note: we spent last summer holidays in Canada

With this ginger, you now want to give up eh? God has blessed you with ielts knowledge, don't disappoint Him.

All the best in your upcoming exams

Rence22:
From the lesson I got from Ieltsadvantage, in your writing task, you were given a direct question to answer. First, your introduction should introduce a summary of what you are going to write in your essay. From my example something like this" There has been an increasing production of waste materials and this calls for concern. Manufacturers are trying to cut cost by producing non-degradable materials and hence, the government needs make policies to cub these manufacturers against such productions." In this type of question, Ielts advantage says you should provide a paraphrase of the question and use the first and second questions to answer in the introduction.
The first question WHY DO YOU THINK THIS IS HAPPENING- From the example I wrote- Manufacturers are trying to cut across production cost-( Just giving an introduction to what my second paragraph would be about) and the second- WHAT CAN THE GOVERNMENT DO TO HELP REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF RUBBISH PRODUCED.-My second answer- formulate policies for manufacturers.
Then paragraph two would discuss the WHY and paragraph 3 would discuss government policies and paragraph 4 would conclude.
Got from IELTSADVNTAGE. . He said there is no mark awarded for anything more than 4 paragraphs.
You NEVER discussed anything related to the first question WHY

Pls I have a bothering question, my cousin got pregnant while waiting for her ppr, will she have to wait to give birth in Nigeria before travelling, what if ppr comes before delivery, will she still be allowed to travel, delivery is going to be next year though,Will she have to notify IRCC of the pregnancy and if yes at what point.

40-45 days is the current trend, for some 50 days. Patience, it will come
Eyezberg1:
40 days after AOR , no MEP. Am i the only one in this boat?

Mother nature is all powerful, nothing can stop delivery, CIC or not grin

She will be allowed to travel.

She only notifies CIC after delivery on the new addition to family, update POF and birth certificates.

You are such a clown for your first sentence!!! grin grin grin But in case we don't get jobs in Canada, immigration office go sure pass grin Treasury is my specialty, I'll be in charge of the consulting purse. grin

Stencil:
hmmm I need to look into this consulting thing. @Topsmamen @Ifeoma77 I'm ready when you are, I have a feeling we'd make a great team. LadyMarshall can run logistics.

Bumy, knowing your profile could help give you a better answer. Your age, degree, years of work experience etc.
An overall band of 7 isn't enough these days to secure ITA. You'd need to score 8777 (LRWS). Kindly provide us with more details to better assist you.
PS: The tool your "consultant" used to calculate your CRS is this one. Use it and play around with it to see the best option for you and your family. Good luck!

[quote author=Rence22 post=78600183]My fellow nairalanders. I appreciate your help so far despite the fact that I haven't really gone too far. I am just at the ECA stage and registered for ielts next month. It's with a very great sadness that I might have to pull out of this canny dream. Really sad for me.

I feel you dear...My hubby was like this before, and after much talk, I decides to let things be.. I moved on but kept on talking to God to have his way.
Surprisingly, He came home one day and told me he was interested in the whole process. Uptil now, I still don't know what made him change his mind.

So for your hubby, stop bringing up the subject with him, talk to God to intercede if it's his will, and then watch him have a change of heart.

Cheer up!!

Silent Reader now in d building!!!!!
Somewhat Long Post Alert!!!!
Its PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Background
Before I embark on the journey of my story, let me first give thanks to whom all praise, honour, glory and adoration is due; the most high God, my refuge, me Shield, my Buckler, lover of my soul, my Maker, my present help in time of trouble, my Deliverer, Jehovah, Yahweh, the I AM that I AM, glorious God, awesome wonder.
I have always been a diehard fan of Nigeria, things are getting better and there is no need to move to another country I always said. In fact, I believed naija was the best place to make it, looking at my father’s success story. “I’d rather make my millions here and go on vacation than relocate permanently”, I used to tell myself and all who cared to hear. My husband on the other hand has been talking about this move since we got married. I just always shrug it off. I can’t remember how many times we said we would register for the exam; once he starts like that, I will nod in agreement with him so that the story and preaching will not start, then I won’t say anything about it again and we will move on.
It wasn’t until one blessed day in August 2018, had a get together with former colleagues and then I realised that almost everyone was in the process; that’s excluding other people I know who had either gotten PPR or were in the process. Then I asked myself “Babe, if all the sane people you know in this country move to Canada, you would be left with touts and the likes to run the country and it will not be fun at all”. The was the turning point for me. When I got home I told him this country is in big trouble as most of the bright minds (I know) are moving and me, I cannot be caught dead here when there is no one left. The following day being a Saturday, I registered for IELTS. Being that I wasn’t too confident about my level of preparedness, I gave myself 2 months to prepare (wrong decision, cos by the end of September, I was already tired of preparing). So, I registered for the Oct 27th, 2018 exam, with BC (did not know about IDP then). About a week or 2 after, I registered with WES, thankfully, I have a foreign degree, so this was a breeze.
In preparing for IELTS, one of my friends sent me some links so study materials and one of those links was the link to study materials on page 1 on part 5 or 6 can’t remember again. Nosey me started snooping around the thread and gradually started following to the point of addiction (read when I get to the office before I start my day’s work and then before I go to bed at night). At a point hubby banned me from reading this thread, but for where, I was still following, just don’t check when he’s around.

The Journey
IELTS: In preparing for IELTS, I used IELTSOLINE and CAMBRIDGE for Listening and Reading. For speaking, I used youtube to know what was expected. For writing, I used IELTS-UP to read the different formats of essay writing. Then overall, I used Liz, the videos I could find online. I also have a friend who tutors people for IELTS, she gave me some tips and helped review my writing and speaking. We had agreed that hubby will not write IELTS neither will he do ECA; we could save the money and use it for some other things, so I was under a lot of pressure to max out. Thank God he saw me through
ECA: I had one friend advising me to use IQAS and another advising me to use WES. Thank God I stuck with WES, cos those timelines for IQAS are not smiling at all. Paid 10pounds for transcript and did not worry at all about the verification leg. Also, though they had started requesting for WAEC, I did not have to include it. Report was ready in less than 20 days
Work Experience: As at the time, I had over 4 years work experience in 2 different companies. The first was 2 years and 11 months (painful I could not use that alone). Getting reference from the first was not an issue, but for the second (current employer) I had to talk to someone in HR to help me write the letter and sign, without taking it to the Head, I did not want to hear story. In hindsight, that was a risky venture because if they had called and asked to speak with the Head, the story would have been different now. Also, the new role had Manager title, even though no one was reporting to me. I wasn’t so knowledgeable in the NOC area and those I asked said I should go ahead and use the same NOC since I still performed almost all the same tasks. Again, in hindsight, I should not have done that cos I really could have ended badly. So, I would advise everyone to please do the right thing, the pressure from the wait is enough to give you high BP, don’t let such errors add to it.
Proof of Funds: We used T-bills and Money market fund. The monies were split in half, t-bills in my name and the money market fund in hubby’s name. He wrote letter that I had access to the funds and he consented to me using it for the purpose of our application, then he had it notarized. The letter the fund manager wrote had referenced the account statement which was also attached to the letter (Chai!!!) and we had moved lump sums into the account in the last two months. We explained the source of the money and attached the contract of sale of the car along with the proof of ownership of the car.
P.S: I hear GTB t-bills are causing confusion with some VOs cos of the wordings on them. Thank God mine wasn’t affected.
Medicals: A day after we got ITA, we called Qlife (they were cheaper) to book an appointment but they told us the next available date was January 2019. We just left them and moved on with life. The following week, someone posted on the thread that Qlife now had closer dates, so I told hubby to book call and confirm, which he did. But he was not sure of the date that will be suitable for us, so I ended up calling them again to book 7th of December. We got there around past 7, wrote our names and waited till we were called in. I think we were done by 11 or so.
We delayed in submitting cos I wanted to see if it was possible for the Fund Manager to change the reference letter, but they insisted that was how they issued their own letters, so we let it slide.
PCC: For UK PCC, I applied online and had it delivered to a friend in the UK who scanned and sent to me. Naija PCC, we went on a Saturday to meet an Inspector Charles, we filled the form and hubby picked up during the week. About 2 days after, I looked at the PCC and discovered there was an error on mine; passport expiration was wrong. Called Inspector Charles and he said we should bring it back for correction, which we did. We paid 5k each
Submission: I scanned all documents and saved all those for uploading in a folder I dubbed ‘Docs to Upload’. Then I labelled each doc with each person’s name and what the document was about. I was filling the form judiciously cos I did not want to hear that one thing two thing happen, abeg, I can’t shout. Some of the documents’ hubby scanned were not very clear, so I had to rescan before uploading. I scanned the bio-data page of our current passport and all the stamped pages (for both old and current passports). Uploaded all documents in the correct placeholder and we submitted. I remember that day, my heart was pounding yam after we submitted, but I said I shot prayer; God take control, let you favour go with our application.
So, the wait began……... I was not bothered much cos I knew it will take over a month for MEP to come, but I was tracking it. One beautiful Saturday morning (Feb 2), woke up to a do not reply mail. Tapped hubby “do not reply cic! do not reply cic”. Checked application and saw request letter, it was for biometrics. Medical was still under review, that was how I started getting worried, maybe my village people have started their work (anyways that came a few days after). Went for biometrics at VFS Lagos on Tuesday 5th Feb and our profile was updated same day. Friday 15th Feb, woke up to another do not reply mail, did same to hubby and it was request for RPRF, we paid same day and this was acknowledged. Note that Barryston also had the same movement, so I thought our PPR was a week or 2 away. Little did I know that God’s plan concerning that was different. One week after nothing, 2 weeks after nothing, 1 month after nothing; Haaaaaa!!!!!! Worry started again.
Then when it was April 1 and I could not take it again, I raised CSE to know my visa office (hubby had said I should not o). 3rd of April, I was in a meeting when the response came, I read it and BAM, sadness takeover, I read that our application was being processed in Accra Visa office (AVO). Hmmm!!!! Coupled with the other things going on in my life, I gave up on God. Thank God for being God though and remaining faithful even in our unfaithfulness and drawing me back to Him. So, from that time, I resigned to fate that our application was going to take a while.
I started reading more about AVO and following trend and doing my own statistics as to when I should get ADR. Tried searching for the AVO whatsapp group but could not get anyone to add me. I was sha doing jeje jeje, contemplating whether or not to request for GCMS, in fact, I chatted a friend in canny to help me order, then he said I would have to fill consent form, that was the point I changed my mind (I am paranoid like Ifeoma77).
On 10th May, a friend added me to a whatsapp group and on 13th they discussed about AVO. So I chatted the person who responded to please help include me to the AVO whatsapp group if she was in the group and she did. 14th May, the same lady announced on the group that she moved to ip2, I was sad that there was no movement on my application but felt a nudging to check my profile (at this time I had resorted to checking my profile like once a week or 10 days). I logged in and BOOM!!! I saw I had been visited by ‘the GHOST’ (application/profile updated). Logged in and saw that background check was now “we are processing….”. Chai!!! I was overjoyed; expecting PPR the following day or at least before the end of the week. Hmmm!!! Wednesday passed, nothing; Thursday, nothing; Friday nothing. In fact, someone who moved to ip2 on Thursday got PPR on that Friday, but here I was, still expecting mine. Monday 20th May 2019, 2 people had announced PPR on the AVO whatsapp group (they moved to ip2 after me o), then sometime around 3, I checked my phone (as I had been all day) and saw a mail. Unlocked my phone and saw…….. you guessed right… ‘do not reply cic’. My entire body started shaking, my mind was racing, is this PPR or ADR (for famous 5) or rejection letter? I logged in (had a failed attempt cos I was shaking) and saw a request letter. Opened it and read the words “it appears your application has been approved and your visa is ready to be issued…..”. I just locked my computer (na office I dey o) picked up my phone, dialed hubby’s number while stepping out of the office and when he picked I said “baby im shaking” he said “what is it, are you alright”, I said “yes, it has dropped, its PPR”. By this time, I was out of the office and I screamed….. God has done it!!!!!!!
This thread has amazing people, even though I was not active, I feel like I know you all. God bless you all and keep up the good work. To everyone in one phase or the other, please keep at it, God is ever faithful just hold on to Him, he will see you through. The journey is worth every effort
Sorry for the very long post (I actually dint think it will be this long) but I had been postponing posting my stories; from IELTS to ITA. I could not but come back and share my story, cos I gained a lot from here; not just knowledge, laughter as well and sorry the gist is just coming in, being battling with how to post on here.
@lady marshall, please do me well o

Job before PPR, almost impossible but not impossible. You should spend more time on our sister thread, Living in Canada https://www.nairaland.com/4933819/living-canada-life-canadian-immigrant#74340339

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you friends!

Congratulations

Raconteur14:
It's been a long while I have been here. Decided to share my PPR story even though I didn't get it through express entry.

May 2017- Wrote IELTS for the first time and passed. (Just expired last week).

July 2017 - Got the result of my ECA assessment from WES.

July 2017 - Dived into the pool with a total score of 466.

August 2 2017 - Got an ITA as lowest CRS was 441.

August 9 2017- CRS was 433.

After due consultation on this forum, I realised I had wrongly put a certification that I had not assessed with my ECA. I was advised to remove the certification and revert to my 433 scores since it would be sufficient to get an ITA since the last draw on August 9 was 433.

August 23 2017- CRS was 434

September 6 2017- CRS was 435

September 14 2017- Celebrated my birthday and lost 6 points. My CRS dropped to 427

September 20 2017 - CRS was 433.

The rest as they say is history. CRS never dropped again to levels achieved in 2017.

I was sad, cursed my luck and was unhappy. I continued with my masters program in Unilag, hoping to finish by the end of 2018 so that I could get the extra 40 marks for masters. As I type this, while I am done with my course work, I'm yet to defend my project, talk less of results or certificate.

January 2019 - I got married to my girlfriend who was a PR.

January 2019 - I got a new job.

February 27 2019 - Submitted my sponsorship application (Average time of processing is one year)

March 2019- I did my biometrics.

May 16 2019- I got an e-mail that I was eligible for pre-arrival services.

May 16 2019- I got another e-mail to go and do my medicals. I was so excited about this that I was bubbling up and down. People usually do medicals 6 months or more after the application has been submitted.

May 16 2019- I got yet another e-mail from Accra Immigration notifying me that my Visa was ready. So is my COPR. I had just gotten the PPR email. I was behind myself with so much joy and I still can't believe it. But God did it.

I share this to encourage someone. Be patient, keep at it and God would bring your own testimony for you.

I couldn't keep up with the thread from Part 3 because my situation wasn't changing. I am pretty sure that people we started together then are well settled in Canada now. But I am just so glad that God showed up for me this way. It's only him!

My fellow nairalanders. I appreciate your help so far despite the fact that I haven't really gone too far. I am just at the ECA stage and registered for ielts next month. It's with a very great sadness that I might have to pull out of this canny dream. Really sad for me. hubby has seriously been reluctant. Says he loves his Naija and God has not instructed him to leave Nigeria and until he receives his heavenly dream from God, he is not going anywhere. He actually said if I want to go badly, I should. But here's the problem, with 3 kids ages 5 3, and 1.5 years old. How do I cope with daycare, job search, mobility, picking up from schools, groceries, and upkeep alone in Canada. To worsen it, he isn't supporting financially. I even offered and begged to have him sit for ielts and his eca with my monthly pay he reluctantly said yes but I thought, one can only force a horse to the river but not to drink. Without his help how will I survive with 3 beautiful kids alone in Canada. He is not even batting an eye concerning the benefits. He's a speedy driver, says cars are meant for speed how will such a person cope with Canadian traffic rules. These and some little others have just weakened me especially my children and the highest I can even leave them is a week. We are that close that they have never gone to bed without my hug and kisses. I dont have any family over there to help with. Good night.

Don't give up yet. Just put things in place for you guys to be in the pool. Do your ECA and ace your IELTS. Pray that God touches his heart and be prepared if he eventually changes his mind, you will be ready to go at the slightest notice.

One of my friend's wife did the same. Only told the husband when he was required to do medicals (even though he was an unaccompanying spouse). That was when he decided to go ahead with it.

While I definitely don't advise you to do this, be prepared (at least be in the pool) in case he changes his mind

@Jenolyfavour I see you are pre-ITA but you are worrying about Canadian certificate for settlement in Canada already, nice. But focus on getting ITA first, do a seamless submission for e-APR, ensure all your documents are in order, then when you are post-AOR, you can worry about life in Canada, it's a long wait so you'll have time. Take it step-by-step so you do not get overwhelmed.

Hello House,

My score is 468 and i am expecting to receive ITA by the next draw.

My question is, although i am yet to receive ITA, Is it advisable to still go ahead with my medicals now since i have been able to secure an appointment this week at IOM?.

That is, will it be a problem if medicals is ready but i'm yet to receive ITA?

My hubby did his with ICES. there's no transcript but the school generated a something like a testimonial that they sent to ICES. I actually got the name from this thread. Can't remember now try and search this thread using the search bar for the name of the document generated for PhD holders
Oopsy:
Good day people, has anyone seen or heard of a Ph.D holder who has successfully done ECA? If yes, which institution was used and what documents can one send? Cos I learnt there are no transcript as there is no exam, just research work... and then the certificate.

Any one with any info on this should assist urgently.
Thanks.

It was PPR guys !!!

5. [b]For those awaiting PPR or at one step of this process or the other.
Be strong and positive. You must be patient. Everybody wants to get PPR in one month but it can't be so. Some get so quickly and others get around 6 months or more. One thing is certain: if you have everything you claimed and provide genuine documentations to back them, IRCC MUST give you PR visa. It's a matter of time.

YOU WILL CELEBRATE SOON!

My PPR twin mate @WhizzyG, congratulations once again! Warn your dog o!

By the way Visa Office VO is our beloved Ottawa
NOC . . . emmm ermm . . . I don forget be that o.

To God be the glory.

Hi. Don't be discouraged. It's a blessing in disguise. Your PPR might just swoop in even before you leave Accra.

Please reach out to @bronze25 who was added to a WhatsApp interview group. She should be able to help place you in the same WhatsApp group. Read her PPR gist here.

Also look at this PPR gist and possible interview questions here.

I wish you success on the interview.

Just as a piece of advice for those of us still in the valley of decision with respect to the ECA body to use and whether to evaluate B.Sc even when you have an M.Sc.

My opinion is that you should look beyond the immediate CRS score and see into your journey in Canada should things go well with your application. Let's try to look into things like licensing with professional bodies. For instance, in my little research, engineers in Alberta need to evaluate their first degree and for this reason, I decided to evaluate my B.Sc along with my M.Sc which would have been unnecessary if all I am bothered with is CRS points. I evaluated both to make it easier for me to ask WES for a reevaluation when the time comes. It might cost a little more, but it is cheaper on the long run.

In summary, take out time to 'plan out' and look beyond the immediate need.

Cheers to a PPR filled week ahead.
