Top Thirteen (13) Policies Nigeria Must Undertake To Achieve Rapid Development by Trustnews: 6:16pm On May 14, 2019 |
1. Free & Compulsory Education (The Right Kind of Education) This policy should encourage more girl child education and Target the Amagiri children in Northern Nigeria. More schools must be built and more funding is needed. Zimbabwe has the highest literacy rate in Africa at 91% as against Nigeria 65%. Have you wonder why Robert Mugabe with resisted by Zimbabwean through protest & demonstrations without police & Army killing any protester? Education. No Nation can attend development without Education! 2. Reform the Nigeria Police Force & Judiciary: The Nigerian police needs more Training and re-training. More sophisticated equipments, increased emoluments for her personnels and stop the employment of Secondary School leavers into the force. The Judiciary needs total overhauling and to check corruption. 3. Reduce Her Population Growth Rate: It will interest you to know that No More Developed Countries (MDCs) have a population growth rate of more than 1%(Including China). With a population growth rate of 2.6% for an economy that is still recovering from recession and with an annual economic growth rate of less than 3% is worrisome. Muslim & Orthodox Christian are opposed to this idea, sighting China as an example, but they fail to check Chinese economic indices and indicators before concluding. 4. Reduce People's attention to Religion & embrace Science & Technology: Religion has done more harm to Nigeria as a Nation than good, we are the 2nd most religious Nations in the world, yet we have the Headquarters of Boko Haram & Fulani HerdsMen (1st & 4th Most Terrorist Group in the World) and also the poverty headquarters in the world, how do you reconcile this? Science & Technology drives other developing economies of the world, Nigeria must not be left out. 5. Encourage the culture of Hardwork on her Youths: We must encourage our youths at a tender age to imbibe the culture of Hardwork, appreciate & award well meaning Nigerians who are working hard to send a strong message to our younger generation. Amnesty for criminals must be discouraged. 6. Build "Necessary" Infrastructures (Power, Road, Railways, Housing& Potable water): This will help Nigeria to attract foreign investors, encourage entrepreneurship amongst her youth & improve our human development index 7. Quality & Affordable Health Care system: Nigeria must reduce her infant mortality rate and reduce foreign health care trips abroad. 8. Tackle Unemployment & Absolute Poverty: Unemployment amongst the educated and Uneducated youths is alarming. People must have foods and live at least, above $2 dollars per day. 9. Introduce Proportional Tax rate (The Rich should Pay More Taxes): Most Nigerians don't pay their taxes, especially the rich. They evade taxes and acquire more property without closing the gap between the rich and poor. 10. Reduce Gender & Income Inequality: More opportunities & advocacy for Nigerian woman, more girl Child Education, reduce Gender discrimination against women, encourage more freedom amongst women. Women drives development! 11. Reform Civil Service & Fight Corruption Genuinely: Nigerian Public Service breeds laziness, low productivity and corruption. It needs overhauling and corruption must be fought with genuine political will and must jail those found guilty irrespective of who they are or which tribe they come from. 12. Strengthen Political Institutions like INEC, EFCC & CBN: These political institutions much be more independent to carry out their duties with less political interference. The must be impartial and sincere, more funding with general support of the Nigerian Citizens. 13. Restructure Nigeria & Her Political System; True Fiscal Federalism: We need to look away from Cride Oil and focus more on Taxation, Tourism, Aviation, Sports, Agriculture, Industries & Telecommunication to aquire more revenue. The culture of "Laziness" from Oil producing & Non-Oil producing States in Nigeria must be discouraged. There is need to restructure the Nigerian economy to ensure most state look inwards to harness their own resources and pay taxes to the central. Reduce cost of governance and improve efficiency. Brother what u listed here is exactly what every good country has. Then coming to Nigeria hummm! The major problem is population, give U.S one third of our population then u will see choas.. no hope for Nigeria and India.. even China right now is facing serious problem because of over population... Nigeria will be getting worse till we have enough of this nonsense and divide this country into fractions so that everybody will enjoy life. millions have died crossing the just because they are Nigerians it's time we start thinking like humans because it's human nature to seek for better life. I loved Nigeria when I was a kid now as an adult who understands how things suppose to be,I must say Nigeria is a very bad country and I hate Nigeria. 1 Like |

Arda1000: It’s not really Nigeria you hate....you hate the wicked, self-serving and visionless elite! They are in every region, ethnicity and state, but the number one and biggest problem Nigeria faces is the core northern muslim elite that believes Nigeria belongs to them and the structure and status-quo must be maintained! If we can get rid of this lot, or clip their wings so to say, i reckon up to 60% of our problems would be solved....with the remaining 40% easier to manage or address! Even the likes of Gideon Orkar realised this about 30 years ago. |

Xander85:ure saying the truth and also Countries with lesser population tends to do better this days, so even with less corrupt politicians, over population is so bad that even if 50 percent of the country are well to do serious problems that can end the country if not handled quickly will always arise. China is experiencing that..infact when serious chaos come Nigeria will just break apart even suffering and smiling cannot stop it |
