A Nigerian woman, Adenike Macaulay, has become the first female to be general manager (sales) for Lufthansa Group in Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea.

A graduate of Systems Engineering from the University of Lagos, Adenike had held various positions in the organisation before rising to be the general manager in charge of sales.

She was business analyst of Lufthansa (2009-2010); regional marketing manager (2010-2015); head of sales products and programs, Sub-Sahara Africa (2017-2018); and has been the senior manager in charge of customer, products and marketing, Sub-Sahara Africa since 2015.

As the general manager for sales, Adenike leads all sales, marketing, servicing and commercial activities for Lufthansa group in Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea.

She holds a professional diploma in Marketing Communications; a professional diploma in Digital Marketing from Digital Marketing Institute, Ireland; and an MBA in Business Administration and Management from the University of Warwick Business School.

She has also been honoured with a diploma for excellence in leadership by Lufthansa German Airlines in 2011; and as a Chief Culture Officer for Impact Week Lagos in 2017.

Lufthansa is regarded the largest German airline and when combined with its subsidiaries, is the largest in Europe, both in terms of fleet size and passengers.
