Why Federal Government Demolished Caramelo Nightclub – Minister by damiloladuke: 12:34pm On May 18, 2019
The reason why Federal Government demolished Caramelo Nightclub has been stated by the Minister of the FCT, Muhammad Musa Bello.

Bello, who was speaking to State House correspondents in Abuja yesterday, said that Caramelo, a popular nightclub in Utako District of Abuja, was demolished in a renewed effort to ensure compliance with the city’s master plan.

He further mentioned that the decision to pull down the structure was painful but necessary to restore the master plan, Daily Trust reports
He said the government was not in place to destroy but that the violation of rules and regulations won’t be tolerated, adding that the business of running a city is a very serious one.

The minister said the building was meant for a clinic but was converted to a nightclub. He said it was neighbours of Caramelo that drew the attention of government to what he tagged “flagrant abuse.”

Bello however assured that government under the present leadership would not stop Abuja residents from enjoying nightlife.

The Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) , Mallam Umar Shuaibu, had said that operators of the night clubs contravened the law by converting residential buildings for other purposes.

Shuaibu, at the time of the arrest of the strippers at the club, had said the Department of Development Control had to demolish the fence of the compound as a form of warning to the owners of the club.

hey it's just as simple as this : one or several of the daughters of the high and mighty may have been involved in a scandal or scandals that needed to be brutally covered up. the results are what you are seeing. There are so many things behind that scene

Could be true anyway. Some developers are criminal, they would file for 2 apartment to get it approved by the government but use the same approved plan to build 10 apartment
So this one filed for hospital but built strip club.Nice one there grin

We complain in this country when the laws are not followed, then we complain when they are enforced.

Oga Bello your reason for the demolition is complete nonsense, why not seal the business premise and save the building until it's converted to approve designated use.

The article indicated that Muhammad Musa Bello said the building was originally approved for a clinic, it means it is a commercial purpose plot not residential purpose plot.

Hence, converting it to a club is still in line with the commercial purpose, except the govt would argue that an approval to change it from Clinic to Club was not secured.

Tell us! Buhari ordered you and you obey. The meeting of the planed demolition was held two weeks before Ramadan fasting, these people knew they can't control themselves, so the only option is to stop others from enjoying their lives because theirs are very miserable.

what does aboki knows. the federal capital they would have put in calabar or Enugu. a Muslim northerner under the military rules move it to the North. which put the Muslim aboki at the advantage. if you visit abuja you would think Nigeria is Muslim country.

And anyway, why haven't the two other similar strip clubs in Abuja been demolished?

You guys better stop this Sharia thing. You are making Muslims look more moral than us Christians.

Yeah, the neighbours were going through hell every time the club was in session. The area is supposed to be a quiet, residential neighbourhood something lost on folks who donot live in Abuja metropolis. Homes and noisy businesses are not mixed.
