Executive, Senate Committee on State and Local Government Administration, Senator Abdullahi Gumel, has said nearby government independence will help cut 'wings of certain governors' and control debasement.

Gumel, who made this known in a meeting with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, said the move would put state governors, especially the individuals who utilized neighborhood government assets as slush support, in line.

He was responding to the mandate by the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), prohibiting governors, banks, budgetary organizations, open officers, and different partners from messing with statutory assignments of neighborhood governments.

Gumel said the mandate, having been commended by Nigerians, was a positive development, especially in perspective on claims of state governors subverting nearby government reserves.
