This dude spent 8 years with nothing to show for it except unmotorable uncompleted bridges littered all over the state. Most useless governor since the creation of Ogun state. He makes mediocre governors like OGD and Osoba look like geniuses.

He's the best governor ogun state has ever had.. And this is coming from someone who hates naija politicians more than the Devil

Politicians don’t fear God at all! They just open their mouths and utter rubbish. Amosun, you’re a known thief and a wicked man.. it shall not be well with all these thieves in our land.

Nigeria's problem is definitely not the so called politicians (by the way, you all that are demonizing politicians should also get involved in politics). The problem is with the Nigerians generally. I am not familiar with the situation in Ogun State. I have to rely on the comments from people that are supposedly familiar with the situation on ground in Ogun State to know if Amosun did well or not. After going through the comments, you become more confused. Some people say he is the worst Governor Ogun State have produced, while some counter that he is the best.
Nigerians generally have problem with being objective and sincere. That is the fundamental problem with us. The problem is not the much maligned politicians.

Let me speak for him. He met the state IGR at paltry 700m and grew it to 7bn which brought the state to the 2nd seat of economically viable state only after Lagos. He brought so many mega industries to the state, over 400 of them. No state in the whole of southwest is more secured as ogun state during amosun era. When last did hear of bank robbery in ogun state? He seriously worked on security and people that are more conversant with ogun state will attest to this. And these are few of many things he achieved. I'm not saying amosun is the best thing after sliced bread but no governor in ogun state has done better than him. Let's leave sentiment aside.

Kindly elaborate, what has Osoba and Daniel done to improve Ogun state economy, What has osoba did aside of doing rural road, or is it OGD that was busy building stadium, renovated Olumo Rock and sold gateway hotel to himself, Insecurity was major problem during OGD Tenure, Ogun State was ranked 29th interm of doing business in Nigeria, before Amosun took over, now is 4th in Nigeria to do business
salford1:

I do not know how old are you, but going through your posts, it seems you are still in uni, and if i was to judge by that, you were probably very young when OGD or osoba were governors. So how come Amosun is the best governor you have seen in ogun when ideally you grew up knowing only his administration.

I thought he mentioned that he increased the IGR from #700 million to #7 billion per month. He also said his administration attracted 475 investors to invest in the State.

How did he grow the IGR? By increasing the number of 'touts' on the road to hustle money from market people, bus drivers, keke riders, bike riders? What was done to improve the lives of residents in the state with the generated IGR?

from your comment, it shows you know nothing about Ogun State, "OGB" instead of OGD
secondly, OGD employed and put food on the table of many people (myself and my wife are living witness), he employed over 20,000 unemployed into the main stream of Ogun state work force, human resources and welfare were part of his program, and many more
Irokunle as fondly called destroyed many lives, lack workers welfare, no employment, and upon all engaged in sentimental and partial development: resources meant for the three senatorial district that made up Ogun was used to develop Abeokuta,
Yes, increase in IGR, but how did that translate to people's welfare, workers are owed deductions, some did not receive salaries, pensions not paid.... then the multiplier effect on Ogun citizens is zero

many sin of Amosun shall soon be uncovered, watch out

Like seriously? Did you just spew this out? Where in the whole 36 states can you pinpoint that there's not a single touts on the road "obtaining" people? Hello young girl, let me school you. Ogun state was hugely indebted when amosun took power. Prior to Daniel's last day in office, he swept over 56bn from the state coffers. Hardly will a month pass without hearing news of bank robberies due Daniel's era. Why am I even wasting my energy on you gan? People were being killed in broad daylight then and nothing was being done to that. Daniel even made touts as LG chairmen and commissioners eg 'ologboowon' who was made chairman of abeokuta south and bukola olopade (ozogbula) as commissioner for youth and sports. Go and confirm yourself and stop being bittered. Like him or hate him, amosun has set a good precedence in ogun state for any successive govt to thrive.

Few years time, People will forgive Amosun for his sins because no one is perfect and they will remember his good deeds and legacy in the state.

Amosun really amazed me by paying all the cooperative deductions he owed ..about 18 months or so . Because most governors don't like cleaning up their mess but instead create problems for the incoming administration.

Ogun has been unfortunate with their leaders. Amosun is not as good as people who visited only Abeokuta think. He focused on infrastructure only in Abeokuta, and ignored other places. Ogun is too big than only Abeokuta. Other places are mad with this man. Why did Dangote move his refinery to Lagos? Is it not Ogun that was his first interest? He made so many blunders with cheap bridges in the state. Ijebu Ode and other Ijebus are failed areas. As early as 8pm, ijebu ode is already in darkness. The markets there are still ancients. Which business opportunities or investors want to go to Ogun? This man is a joke. People live in Ogun because of its clossness to Lagos. Go to EPE, as soon as you reach Byebye Lagos, you are entering pot holes. I have nothing much to say about this man. He has so many opportunuties but he wasted too many.

The next 4 years in Ogun will be better with collaboration with Lagos. This is the main area he failed because of personal beef with Jagaban, but he has been defeated. Now, Ogun is under the care of Osinbajo. It was why it pained him. He had too many good opportunities but he deliberately ignore them all. Ogun is just a part of Lagos. So, Ogun and Lagos governors must be friends. This guy isolated Ogun cos of his foolish way of thinking and pride. And he eventually lost out.

Which security is this man talking about. Go to other places in Ogun and see. Is it Abeokuta that should be the yardstick to measure the while of Ogun? This man messed up big time too. Most other places are dens of ritualists. You better be careful in the Ijebu lands. Which security did he give them?

Pray that the insecurity of Daniel's era should come back to ogun state because he fed you and your wife. The problem with Nigeria are Nigerians. Insofar some set of people are benefitting from the proceeds of misgivings, all is well. Daniel tried but not as amosun. I even heard he's paid deductions of workers. You said he's developing abeokuta and I challenge you if abeokuta isn't the capital of ogun state. Go to akure, ado ekiti, Ibadan, oshogbo, ph, owerri, Kaduna etc and tell me any other parts of these aforementioned that's more beautiful than their capital cities. Politics of hate that onabanjo introduced to ogun state won't let you lots see those things. Every state capital are meant to be a model city for other parts of the state. Deal with that oga.

The out-going governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun says that Gbenga Daniel, his predecessor, handed over ‘a failed state’ to him in 2011, Igbere Tv reports.

He alleged that Gbenga Daniel handed over a state that was characterised by poor economy, deplorable infrastructure and insecurity, which prevented investors from investing in the state.

Amosun, who was represented by Taiwo Adeoluwa, secretary to the state government, spoke at a press conference to launch Ogun State Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency. He said unlike him, Dapo Abiodun, governor-elect of the state, will inherit an economically viable state.

He mentioned some of the achievements of his administration to include increasing the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the state and improving the ease of doing business in the state.

He said; “When we came in 2011, Ogun State appeared to have failed as a State. Investors were running away from the State because of the high level of insecurity in the State but today, the State is ranked 4th on the list of State with the ease of doing business.

As at the last count, our activities as a government has attracted 473 mega companies which some investing as much as N2billion. Not only that, we took the IGR of the State from the paltry sum of N700million to N7billion per month. But we are not relenting on all these achievements.

We know we have been very successful, but we need to consolidate on the success we have achieved and that is why we are establishing this agency." Igbere Tv reports.

Amosun will return to the senate after winning his bid to represent Ogun central senatorial district.

IT IS DELTA STATE ONE CAN CALLED A FAILED STATE BECAUSE JAMES IBORI LOOTED THE TREASURY AND HANDED POWER TO A LESSER COMPETENT PERSON TO GOVERN.

There are no companies in Warri, Sapele, Asaba, Agbor, Oleh, Ozoro, Patani, etc that is creating jobs for the youth in Delta state because the PDP administration starting from James Ibori never laid any legacy for that.

Ogun state has a large number of industries and business is still spreading from Lagos to Ogun state.

This does not exonerate Gbenga Daniel from corruption.

I think Ogun state is at an advantageous position to absolve the excess development of Lagos state.
