sunnyprof:

Pls sorry for some typo error above.

But as fro TRULY's comment:
I wish to when last did CNN publish any good development about Africa or Nigeria in Particular?
It is onlly WAR, KIDNAP, HUNGER, AIDS, DISEASE, EROSION (which is not realy 'flood' compared to 'kathrina')
The only time you see positive is when one 'oyinbo' man or organisation do some donation or community assistance.

When Naija NGO's do something, no show for CNN. When Nigerians Celebrate or have a beautiful display, no way.

The only locations these foreign news place their cameras in Africa is the 'Gwoza interior village, or the 'Oshodi Oke' of those days or the 'Asawo hotel (chalet) at Kubwa , they will never see the 'Owambe' parties with colourful dressses and wonderful african attires, nor the beatiful streets of VI and Ikoyi, nor would they just poke their camera into the environs of Protea, Sheraton, Nicon Noga nor our Platial State Houses or Amusement parks that litter Nigeria,,

When will Nigeria media focus on the beatiful thins we enjoy in Naija?
Have fun with your celebrations
But remember in your prayers - the patients not being attended to by Lagos striking doctors
- the families living under siege in Aba
- the fishermen in Niger Delta who have abandoned fishing because of incessant oil spillage
- and the over 70m Nigerians who as usual will wonder where the next meal will come from

I dont know how celebrating 50 years of nothing will improve the state of our affairs. I think the problem is we choose to be out of touch with reality. cool

The spanner in the works will be when the crude oil runs out ; HA ! ! !.

Then they will be forcing tribes to produce a president and they will say ; Zap off! !

The various regions will just break off so quietly because there will be no f.u.c.king reason to be together.
(together doing what naa ? ? ? )

The hausas will be the first to Zap right off with their massive landmass of deserts ; sweet! !.

My guy. . . Nothin do you.

There is absolutely nothing wrong in your suggestion. We will pray for all the people who have suffered misfortunes. Amen!!! haleluyah!!!

Having fun doesn't mean we should forget our brothers. We should celebrate Nigeria, but remember our problems.

Everybody has problems. i have never met someone who didn't. But that doesn't mean you have to be miserable and negative for the rest of your life.

Why are some Nigerians so sick in the head? okay if you don't want to celebrate your existence, you can as well be mourning while those who wants to celebrate are allowed to celebrate. angry

don't forget to put ashes on your head, wear rags too, and you must not eat for the whole of Friday. angry

Celebrate Nigeria because we are Nigerians.
Re: 50 Reasons Why We Should Celebrate Nigeria by normalguy: 1:16am On Sep 29, 2010
NIGERIA IS BLESSED, OO YES WE HEAR THAT A LOT, COME TO THINK OFF IT THERE ARE COUNTRIES THAT ARE SUPPOSEDLY LESS BLESSED THAN OUR DEAR COUNTRY AND ARE STILL DOING WAY BETTER THAN WE ARE.
AGAIN ITS COOL TO HAVE HOPE IN NIGERIA, BUT ISN'T IT THIS SAME HOPE OUR FOUNDING FATHERS HAD ?WHERE HAS IT LEAD US TO YET?
THAT FACT THAT NIGERIA STILL REMAIN TOGETHER DOES NOT MEAN WE OUGHT TO BE TOGETHER, AS A MATTER OF FACT HISTORICALLY NIGERIA WAS MERGED JUST FOR THE FINANCIAL GAINS OF OUR THEN COLONIAL MASTERS , IT WAS NEVER A MUTUAL THING .SO AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED THE MERGING OF THE WEST-NORTH-EAST-SOUTH OF THIS COUNTRY WAS A MARRIAGE THAT SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED,AND YOU KNOW THE FUNNY THING ABOUT MARRIAGES THAT ARE BAD?THE SPOUSES DON'T FEEL THE PAIN AS MUCH AS THE CHILDREN, THAT IS WHY TODAY, ITS WE THE COMMON NIGERIANS THAT ACTUALLY FEEL THE PAIN OF OUR FAILING COUNTRY.
IF CHANGE IS TO BE RECORDED EVEN IN OUR LIFE TIME IN THIS COUNTRY I SUGGEST WE FIRST OFF ALL LET GO OFF OUR SENTIMENTS AND BE OBJECTIVE, LETS TELL OURSELVES EMPHATICALLY TAT THIS NATION IS NOT WORKING, THEN AND THERE WE CAN FORGE A WAY AHEAD.HAPPY INDEPENDENCE IN ADVANCE.

^^Think of positive reasons to celebrate. Or are you so miserable that you don't see that Nigeria has indeed come a very long way

I 'll give you an opportunity to enumerate all the positives to celebrate, and also while you are at it, compare nigeria in the early 80's to nigeria in 2010.

Very true,my guy.
Probably some of those pot bellied politicians have come here on nairaland, created profiles just to create a state of complacency among regular folks that everything is alright, while they set about their agenda of siphoning nigerian wealth into their Swiss bank accounts. grin grin

I celebrate the fact that even after 50 years of bad governance, 1 Civil war, looting and stealing, insecurity, bad roads, poor electricity supply and all the negativities that has plagued us since independence, we still survived. No division, still full of hope for tomorrow! As long as we have that hope, we shall surely over-come someday!!

CONGRATULATIONS NIGERIA @ 50!!

I don't have the time for that. However it's funny how some disgruntled elements here always proclaim Nigeria was a better place when they lived there. That is their real optical illusion, no doubt brought about by constant immersion in negativism and defeatism in the almighty Western media.
That notwithstanding, Nigeria has a great deal to be proud of and I for one congratulate all the leaders who have kept the country united and independent for the past 50 years!

someone please pull out a straight jacket for this guy. obviously going crazy. i keep telling you have lost touch with your roots. your above post proves it further. My guy it is the citizenry holding the nation together. The day the citizens say enough is enough then you will realize it. That is the difference between our mentality and that of countries like the US. the govt here is grateful to the citizenry for their existence while it is the opposite for us. why wouldn't you feel that way anyway? your vote doesn't count. well, does it? slowpoke
