BECAUSE I AM IGBO
Don’t criticize me because I am Igbo.
Don’t deny me of my right because I am Igbo.
Don’t deny me of opportunities because I am Igbo.
Don’t join my enemies who want to kill me because I am Igbo.

Don’t kill the works of my hands because I am Igbo.
Don’t try to shut me up because I am Igbo.
Don’t make my neighbours to hate me because you hate Igbos.
I have been marginalized enough in my father’s land don’t make it worse.

All I ask this day as I mourn my fallen heroes.
Accord me the same opportunity as Musa from the North and Wale from the West.
Allow me speak freely without the fear of being labeled a terrorist.
My right should be respected as a Nigerian.
