ignorance is bliss

that's all I have to say cheesy

Yamousoukro was built from the scratch and is FAR better and well planned than Accra will EVER BE
Accra is more economy buoyant than Soukro tho in terms of economic activities but that's it.

You Ghanaians never accept, even the ones I engage in real I life are the same (well most)

that is why I like Nigerians for one thing
Our country is great and all that, BUT we acknowledge our short comings

And are not ashamed to spell it out

But Ghanaians cheesy cheesy

them no dey ever gree

tongue
Tema was also built from scratch and now a well developed, planned, industrial, residential and sea harbor city with massive infrastructure.Ghanaians will never agree with you because Dr.Kwame Nkrumah taught us that.He told us deep in our memory that no country is better than Ghana and that we are the Black Star of Africa. That's where the love for our motherland comes from.We are one people and treasure peace and unity and love among ourselves with no claim of superiority. In schools from primary school to SHS,all our history is just limited to Ghana and no other country. We never see any country apart from Ghana and that's why you don't see civil conflicts here aside some minor northern communities which is easily controlled.Ghana first and God bless our homeland Ghana. It's like North Korea propaganda and we're proud of it.And Ghana is far better than Cote D'Ivoire and that's a fact.

you are comparing ivory coast a country of about 24.29 million to Nigeria with almost 200m. the whole of ivory coast at 24.2m is not upto the population of lagos (17.5m) and kano (9.4m).
do u think if Nigeria was just lagos and kano we wouldnt have been at par with some European countries in terms of infrastructure and standard of living? agreed our leaders failed us but we will get it right sooner than later. but pls dont compare naija and ivory coast. its like comparing a 3 ft man with a 6 ft man. i reserve my comment.

This dense argument is what usually makes me very irate. Our problem is not our population, but the kleptomaniac leaders we have at every level who just keep dipping their hands into the public till per second per second.

What can we not tell ourselves the truth for once? Nigeria makes more money than all the West African coutries combined. Why are we the poverty capital of the world?

Our problem is not wealth generation: Nigeria breeds wealth every day. Our problem is wealth distribution and sustenance of inequality. Until that is addressed, even if we are 500,000 and we have 50 people stealing the common wealth, we will go nowhere.

We all stayed in one kind of abandoned open shop close to the church. Unlike most of the guys that were picking pure water sachet in the circle area, the guys here were doing more of hard labour like bricklayer work, offloading goods from containers because that area is an industrial area so there are many warehouses around. Many of them have been there for long so they had their connection and knew when jobs were coming up. I tried to get involved with anything I could do so I can survive but yet again everyone would always tell me I can't do those kind of jobs. I will force them to take me but at the end the supervisor will still reject me. I felt really bad but then I had to get back to my usual begging which was obviously the only one that favoured me. Somehow I really felt like God was with me because I never imagined doing those kind of jobs and God didn't allow me do it. Sometimes when they have church services am always looking for you to beg until one day one man told me he will report to the pastor because the pastor warned that if anyone is caught begging they should report security and arrest the person.

Let me try to cut the long story short so I don't have to write in different pages.
Staying at that shop space close to the church was a nightmare because when rain falls at night we are practically sleeping under the rain. The mosquito bite at night is terrible. The shocking thing was how new people come almost everyday with the same story of how someone ran with their money or how their money got missing at the border and we will all have to stay in that place together. Mind you we can only stay there at night because during the day it's in front of a factory and that's were their workers sit down during their break. So during the day we all have to disappear from there but our bags are there and we cover them with the cartons we spread on the floor to sleep. I had tried so hard to raise money to get back to Nigeria but it only seems I can just find money to eat and do little things and that was it. I had to make enquiries about the Nigerian embassy in Ghana and then I got the address. So one day I went to the Embassy and explained my situation. The man I met there was really so nice and helpful. He told me they will send my issue to the ambassador because I told them I needed to go and I had no were to stay if they don't attend to me that day and find money for me. Unfortunately they said the ambassador had an urgent meeting so he will have to see it tomorrow and any amount he approves they will let me know. I thought about going back to sleep in that store and I said not today, so I gave my usual pity face and said I don't have anywhere to stay. So they allowed me sleep somewhere inside the embassy. That was the best sleep I have had in ages and the best bath I had taken that night. It was like I should not come out the bathroom and they oven put AC for me but I put it off later because my body was not use to AC anymore. I felt so alive again praying and hoping they give me money to go.
The next day I got a very bad news that the ambassador didn't approve any money because Buhari has not released money to the embassy. I actually almost fainted because I could not imagine going back to that store house after sleeping in the embassy so I pleaded with the man to help me in anyway. Very nice man I will never forget. He told me to wait, he was going to rag all the workers and see what he could get for me. That was how he was able to raise 200ghc for me and then told me I should not use the naija buses because the money won't be enough but I should use the short cut which he wrote on paper for me. From Accra to Aflao, I cross through the back gate and enter Togo. From Togo to Seme and then to Mile 2.

I was so grateful to God for everything and that was how I found myself back home. I have been putting myself together and glory to God I now have a phone which I am using to type this story. I look forward to God that kept me safe all through that experience because I know he has better and bigger plans for me.

I believe I will be a testimony to many very soon.

This is my true life experience, I never made it to Abidjan but I came back home alive.

well, forget the patriotism bits I hope you now know that your thoughts about Ghana was wrong. You now know that Ghana has a larger and richer GDP than Cote D'Ivoire and per capita income.Ghana has the largest FDI in West Africa. We are ahead in quality of lives in terms of human development index,we have the biggest infrastructures and better cities and resources than them.Abidjan can't be richer or has more infrastructure than Accra and Yamoussoukro can't compete with Accra.

That was just my question

I don’t know what God has to do with this
Hian, Una go kill person with laugh for Nairaland.com, Lol at what God has to do with this, you don't know that almost everything in Nigeria is connected to religion, God, Allah, Ogun, obatala, ifa, orunmila etc that is why Nigeria is called a religious country but not a godly country, and the politicians will swear with Koran and Bible but still loot the treasury recklessly without fear, and on Friday they go to the mosque while the other thieves go to the church on Sundays, what a joke of a people cheesy

You are not getting my point

and I will not explain further

Quality of life in NiggerArea is amongst the worst
So mitigate against that, you need a whole lot...

And yea, i run a business in CIV, but get to travel to other destinations to spend some time....

the country has a unique charm that's why I planted some roots there.....

That's just it....

And yes, I'll say it anytime, They have a better standard of living than NiggerArea

And it's a functioning country cheesy

Ease of doing business A1

etc

Eventually I will need to settle properly to raise kids and all, cos nomad life has expiry date

But even if I don't raise kids in CIV, that country has a special place in my heart for being so good to me.
Do you have to formally register a business and obtain the necessary business registration certificate before you set up any business in lvory Coast or you just rent a place and start without business registration certificate? @ topic, I flew into Abidjan from Paris in 2002 stayed for less than one week to meet with a friend and I didn't move around too much but I saw lots of developmental stride in the country, and from there l flew to Banjul to meet with another mutual friend who was working as a Civil Engineer in Gambia although the guy has moved to North America now and he is doing well, good to hear that things are going well in Ivory Coast cool

registering your business is better
once your business is above 1m CFA plus You register it as a limited liability and the process is hassle free....

It's better to register your business name

From the way you write, I'd wager a bet that you are a graduate or had some decent formal education. Have you tried exploring the job market in Nigeria? You can always emigrate when you have saved enough cash and legally, too.

Anyway, tonight we are happy to know you got back in one piece. I'd like to send you a coin or two to buy you a drink or a meal (please PM or share your account number, if perchance others want to do same).

Now you actually talked like a baby. That guy is saying the raw truth. 200m people isn't the reason we don't have24/7 electricity which is a major reason investors are leaving and relocating to other African countries irrespective of their population. Truth is there is no hope for Nigeria ever being better in a short time to come. He might not be totally right but the country deserves the venom that dude possesses against it.

My friend shut the Bleep up! U are full of deception. I pity the uninformed people that will fall for your deception and lies. I have been coming across people like you since 2012 that I started traveling and I have been dealing with them mercilessly, both online and physically. I also went through similar ordeal with the op when I left Nigeria the first time and I can attest to his story. I left Nigeria in 2012 to Dubai with just two months visa, but unfortunately my visa expired without me getting a job. So I was ashamed to come back to Nigeria empty-handed, then I decided to go to Nairobi Kenya from Dubai. My plan was to just go to Kenya, prepare myself and come back to Dubai afresh. But things didn't go the way I planned as I got stucked in Kenya and was unable to return back to Dubai as soon as possible. I spent completely a year and two months in Nairobi doing absolutely nothing. It was in Kenya that I suffered to the extent that I nearly met my untimely death. But I thank God who from his heavenly dwelling place heard my cries and sent help to me from nowhere. Today I am working and living comfortably in Abu Dhabi. My brethrens, I will never stop being grateful to God coz now, I am the joy of my family, relatives and friends. The journey of my life really thought me that without God I can do nothing. God is still saying something. All thanks to Jesus Christ my saviour.

Is Ivory Coast not having problems?

of course there are significant problems

It's the common denominator for Sub Saharan African countries
but they have made progress
That's the most important

BUHARI on the other hand made NiggerArea slid back

The divisions and problems gbagbo caused are still being dealt with
but business laws being sensible and the supporting infrastructures is what makes the country tick
we need a friendly business climate in Nigeria

That will solve a whole lot
