PRESS STATEMENT RESPECTING LEADERSHIP OF NATIONAL ASSEMBLY: LET HON. CHIEF EMEKA NWAJIUBA WEAR THIS CROWN OF SPEAKERSHIP!

BACKGROUND: The group, which membership is drawn from South-East States and across political party divides, is led by Hon. Obiora Ogwu, chairman and secretary, respectively. The group met on Sunday 26th May 2019 at Enugu essentially to review trending developments in the polity, especially matters regarding leadership of both chambers of the National Assembly, vis-a-vis Igbo interest.
Now, Arising from the five-hour extra-ordinary conference - focused on buzzing allegation of another round of lopsided/Discriminatory proposal zoning of certain positions in favour of few obviously greedy sections of the country; and having considered basic standpoints of Experience, Character, Qualifications, Equity, etc - the group issued the following statement, narrowed to House of Representative Leadership.
1. That democratic Nigeria stands on a historical tripod - Igbo Hausa Fulani and Yoruba:Against the deafening cries marginalization and exclusion, good politics and sake of peaceful coexistence demand fair distribution of political leadership positions - guided by the six zone arrangement of the country. This factor need to be taken into calculus at all time.

2. Equity and Fairness: A wall or peep into distribution of political offices across the political zones and tribes lately would reveal an unfair deal for the South-East.
We dare said that it is needless treating any part of the country contemptuously as inconsequential. Certainly we need one another. The Arewa Youth Forum said this much in their recent press release wherein the group stoutly advocated for green chamber speaker of Igbo descent specifically in the person of Hon Barr Emeka Nwajiuba, P.hD. This disposition by our northern brothers presupposes equity and Fairness in action!

3. Character as a precursor to legislative stability: Certainly, character is a sin-qua-non for good leadership and Resultant cordial fellowship. Legislative activity devoid of suspicion, acrimony and revolts is evidence of good Governance beaconed on Integrity, Transparency and Accountability Accordingly. Without a dependable character steering the affairs of the chamber, the stability and democratic growth of the country shall be in peril. Put rather succinctly, unleashing a Patriots should be the dream we state unequivocally that Chief Emeka Nwajiuba, P.hD is that detribalized, erudite Patriots and jolly-good-fellow and bridge-builder character fitted squarely for the speakership position. He is tested and certified trustworthy.

4. Qualification: Speakership of the federal House of Representatives requires a sufficiently learned fellow who boasts of green matters upstairs. With Masters and P.hD in law and a keg of parliamentary experiences there is no disputing the fact that honorable Hon. Nwajiuba will make a charismatic speaker - effectively on parliamentary representative at any table of international discuss and pro-action conferences. He is poised to bring honour to fellow parliamentarians and Nigeria at large. He is a fit and proper candidate.

5. Leadership/Administrative Experience: The basis of our politics and leadership must be right so that other consideration will fall into line. Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba is known to possess requisite administrative skill essential for galvanizing and managing diverse interests and opinions. This much he has showcased at various levels of national and Patty assignments. And because this dispensation requires collaborative actions between the executive and the legislators more than ever before particularly in the light of monumental socio-political and economic challenges facing the country, Barr, Nwajiuba is the Square Peg rightly needed for the square hole.

6. Baggage Free: Hon Chief Emeka Nwajiuba who represented his federal constituency in Imo State are the green chamber between 1999 and 2003 is free of any hunting dirty past. This clean man of the people known for his independent mindedness is not and will never be anybody groups lackey. Hence with him the Independence of the legislature arm is assured in an atmosphere of complementary and mutual respect between the executive and legislators.

Signed :
Hon. Afunwa Maduka okonkwo
Chairman

Hon. Obiora Ogwu
Secretary

Politics is not played by sentiments. You cannot emotionally blackmail anyone. You want to contest for speakership, no one is stopping you.

But saying others should not contest so that you can win is laughable. Play the politics, lobby and contest. Only then can you win
