Hon Chinedu Offor, member representing Onuimo State Constituency, has emerged the new Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly. His emergence, Igbere TV reports, followed the resignation of the former Speaker, Hon Lawman Duruji. Igbere TV had reported that, Duruji, who emerged Speaker on Tuesday after the former Speaker, Acho Ihim had resigned, surprisingly resigned on Thursday, just 48 hours after assumption of office. The new Speaker, Offor, lost to Duruji, who on Tuesday, defeated him by garnering 14 votes against his 11 votes. Offor emerged the new Speaker on Thursday, following the unanimous decision by all lawmakers at the plenary. The new Speaker, who was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015, lost his re-election bid on the platform of Okorocha’s Action Alliance (AA). He was a former Chief Press Secretary (CPS) and also a Commissioner for Information to the immediate past governor of the state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha. https://www.nairaland.com/5217218/lawman-duruji-resigns-speaker-imo
