Like Judas, General Ibrahim Babangida betrayed Nigerians and his friend, MKO Abiola, when he annulled the 1993 presidential election which was adjudged the freest and fairest in Nigerian political history. It is a notorious fact that annulment plunged the country into political and economic turmoil, which claimed many innocent lives, among other implications.

However, unlike the remorseful and repentant Judas in the Holy Bible, , IBB remains unrepentant and unruffled. He refused to apologise to Nigerians when asked to do so. He prefers to rob more salt on our collective injury by asking us to elect him as our next civilian President.

He recently reluctantly said he took responsibility for the annulment. Is taking responsibility the same as apology? Is it the same as explaining the reasons for the irresponsible act? Nigerians want to know the reason the mandate they gave Abiola at the poll was annulled.
