Efcc’s Prosecution Of Corrupt Politicians ! by wales(m): 6:42am On Sep 29, 2010 |
The ongoing prosecution of corrupt politicians by the EFCC is a welcome development, especially now that the nation has entered the election season. But there is a need for the anti-graft agency to do it with fairness, for, it is only through that measure that the nation can attain good governance. Eradication of corruption is central to the nation’s destiny and prosperity. All tiers of government and the citizens should support Mrs. Farida waziri, the chairman of the agency, for prosecuting politicians who are alleged to be corrupt. Waziri’s efforts would also help the political system and Nigerians to ensure that credible candidates are presented for the 2011 elections. http://www.punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art201009290161746 |

The EFCC and Madam Waziri have the full support of Nigerians in discharging their duty. The problem with them is that they are insincere, unserious, selective, and are themselves very corrupt. There is no government MDA where large scale corruption is not taking place on a daily basis. Yet, all we find is only a handful of ’scapegoats’ being charged to court once in a while. Is that how to fight corruption? |

No body is supporting any one until they themselves stop being corrupt and selective in their prosecutions. Farida is there now acting holy. when she vacates that seat, her can of worms would be opened just like Ribadu. |

i believe in china, corrupt officials are put to death. why can't we do that in nigeria. let's face it, there's really no real deterrent to coruption in nigeria. until there's real fear of being put to death for stealing the people's money nothing will change. btw, this will never happen because the politicians themselves will never make it law. |

@ Topic Prosecute who? if you read that news well on the front page of the Punch newspaper, prosecution is secondary, the primary aim of the meeting is to caution the party not to feild the candidate that has corruption charges hanging on their neck in the forthcoming election primaries, hence the general election. which otherwise means that if a corrupt candidate did not make attempt to re- contest may likely scale through.the word prosecution is bigger than Farida, even GEJ for now,but at least if that resolution can be actualise, we are starting somewhere!. |

tefund:More or less so. Prosecution of corrupt politicians is long over due. Where was EFCC when Nigerians were were cying foul over the constituency allowance of our law makers? Why didnt Farida Waziri venture to investigate? EFCC is just a charade. The agency has lost credibility in the eyes of many Nigerians. |
