*Reno Omokri corners foreign grants in Leah Sharibu’s name*

Reno Omokri, the former social media aide to President Good luck Jonathan has reportedly received hundreds of thousands of dollars in foreign grants in the name of abducted Dapchi girl, Leah Sharibu.

On Twitter, Mr. Omokri has been advocating that the Federal Government of Nigeria secure the release of Ms. Sharibu but all for personal gains, a source close to an American NGO said.

The source explained that Mr. Omokri has been using his influence as a former aide to President Jonathan to scurry favours and make money.

“Background check on the activities of Mr. Omokri revealed that he has not been in Nigeria for many years and has only been mouthing the release of Ms. Sharibu to secure grants.

The source said they discovered that he designed shirts and claimed to have held rallies calling for her release in Nigeria. “He did design shirts but never held a rally. One of those shirts was presented by a Nigerian senator to UK Prime Minister hopeful, Boris Johnson,” the source said.

The source however said that Mr. Omokri is still being investigated and could be charged for fraud. “We understand that he has a history of falsehood and our due diligence has revealed that this could be a repeat of his past.

“Our organization has since suspended ties with Mr. Omokri for now while we continue investigations of our dealings with him.

“We stand for human rights and freedom but not fraud or anything like that; we will come out with our findings once it is concluded.

“In the mean time, people should note that Ms. Sharibu’s matter is one that means so much to our organization and not an avenue for fraud or political scores.

“We are open to working with honest and upright groups in Nigeria to ensure that Ms. Sharibu is reunited with her family because that it what she deserves,” the source said.
