French Set To Elect New President by Echidime(m): 5:30am On May 06, 2007
Voters in France go to the polls on Sunday in the second and final round of their country's most hotly-contested presidential election in recent times.
The socialist Segolene Royal and conservative Nicolas Sarkozy are bidding to succeed Jacques Chirac, who has been president for 12 years.

On Friday, Ms Royal said her rival's election might spark riots. Mr Sarkozy accused her of verbal violence.

Whats your view? Mine is watch and see how this election will be rigged, fraudulent, cheating, just like nigerian own,and then watch what will be the BBC AND CNN comment on it since is not african.

I go for Royale, she is a mother and have the peoples madate already, but since she is an oppsition party sarkozy will win her by rigging.

this is what I get in the bbcnews.

Patrick Gleden, 43, cleaner
"Sarkozy is a control freak who wants to treat us all like cogs in a machine.

"Segolene is a woman and it would be a change if she was elected. She is also determined to defend our social rights.

"Sarkozy talks about freeing up the economy, but when the government watches you there is no freedom.

"I am a cleaner and I want to clean France up by removing Sarkozy

Catherine Peyrouzet, 26, computer consultant

"I am on the left and will vote for Segolene Royal. The 35-hour week is a good thing. Work should be shared out.

"It's all fine to say people should be allowed to work more, but not everybody is able to.

"Sarkozy's policies would marginalise the vulnerable and increase job insecurity.

"He also worries me. I think he would erode our liberties and encourage repression.

"I don't like the way he is courting far-right voters

Worrying

Marine Arnaud, 22, teaching assistant

"Segolene Royal is too much of a lightweight. She does not have a grip on the issues.

"It worries me to think she can be our president.

"There are urgent things to tackle, such as job insecurity and poverty. Crime is also one of them.

"When I go out alone I am afraid. In my neighbourhood a woman recently got attacked by four youths with knives and they stole her bag

So afterall is not only in nigeria that people get attacked.
