Mo Salah Impact Reduce Hatred For Muslim In Liverpool by weezyk(m): 6:23pm On Jun 04, 2019
The Egypt international who is known to be a staunch muslim had another impressive season at Liverpool. He helped Liverpool win the Champions League last season and also winning the Premier League golden boot (shared with Aubamayang and Mane).

According to a Stanford University study, since Mo Salah joined Liverpool, hate crimes in the area have decreased by 19% and anti-Muslim comments online have dropped by 50%. Impact on and off the pitch.

The study used 936 county-month hate crime observations, 15 million tweets from U.K. soccer fans, and an original survey experiment of 8,060 Liverpool FC fans to show that Merseyside, home of Liverpool FC, experienced an 18.9% drop in hate crimes.

The study has also shown that anti-Muslim tweets posted by Liverpool fans, has seen a 3.8% drop, from 7.2% to 3.4%, relative to other Premier League clubs’ fans.
They concluded by revealing that positive exposure to a different religion via role models increases tolerance and understanding.
“The survey experiment suggests that these results may be driven by increased familiarity with Islam,” the research paper added.
“Our findings indicate that positive exposure to outgroup role models can reveal new information that humanizes the outgroup writ large.”

According to English TV host John Oliver,
“Mo Salah is a better human being than he is a football player. And he’s one of the best football players in the world.
“You’d be hard-pressed to find a professional athlete in any sport less affected by their success or status than Mo, which is incredible because I can’t imagine the kind of pressure that comes with the intensity of adoration he receives.
“Mo is an iconic figure for Egyptians, Scousers and Muslims the world over, and yet he always comes across as a humble, thoughtful, funny man who isn’t taking any of this too seriously.”

His legacy on and off the pitch was rewarded when he was listed in TIME Magazine’s 2019 “ 100 Most Influential People ” in the world.

Happy EID Mubarak to all the Muslims around the world.
