It's a case of one down, three to go when it comes to Liverpool and a potential trophy trail in 2019.

Although the Reds' search for the coveted League Championship now stretches into a third decade after Manchester City pipped them by a single point to top spot, the acquisition of an even greater prize – a sixth European cup – has ensured that Jurgen Klopp's side now have the opportunity to land a further hat-trick in the silverware stakes later this year.

Here's a look at the three other trophies they could land before the end of the calendar year.

The FA Community Shield

UEFA Super Cup

Date: Wednesday August 14 with an 8pm kick-off UK time.

Location: Vodafone Park, Istanbul (41,188 capacity) which is the home of Turkish club Besiktas.

Opponents: Chelsea.

FIFA Club World Cup


Date: To be confirmed. FIFA only announced on Monday that this year's edition was taking place after previous reports that it would be held back to take place only once every four years. Since the game was revived in its current format in 2005 though it has always taken place in December.

Location: Qatar. The 80,000 Lusail Iconic Stadium where the 2022 World Cup final is scheduled to take place is still being built so it looks like the game will take place at the 40,000 capacity Khalifa International Stadium which has been the home of the Qatari national team since 1976.

Opponents: Liverpool will be one of seven clubs taking part and they enter last at the semi-final stage.

The competition has four rounds and starts with a play-off between Al-Sadd from hosts Qatar against the OFC (Oceania) Champions League winners Hienghene Sport from New Caledonia – unless they win the former win the AFC (Asian) Champions League in which the runners-up will take their place.

Mexican outfit Monterrey and Tunisian side Esperance de Tunis have already booked their places in the quarter-finals as winners of the 2019 CONCACAF (North and Central American) Champions League and CAF (African) Champions League respectively.

The remaining places will go to the winners of the Copa Libertadores in South America and AFC Champions League – both of which are currently at the last 16 stage while their finals take place on November 23 and 24 respectively.
