The new governor of Lagos state, Jide Sanwo-Olu is definitely trying to prove that he is more than the beloved of Tinubu. In the last week since he took over the mantle of leadership of the most advanced state in Nigeria, he has made efforts to address some of the core issues that affect Lagosians.


The first thing he did upon assumption of office was to talk about one of the greatest issues faced by Lagosians – traffic. His social media page was agog with pictures of his visit to the popular Apapa.

A day after his visit during which he caught a bus driver driving against traffic, he released a video enjoining all Lagosians to obey traffic laws and signs. He also condemned the dumping of refuse into gutters which has been one of the major causes of flooding in the state.


The next thing he did was to talk about waste management in the state. Again, we were reliably informed via social media of his visit to the Olusosun landfill at Ojota and his commitment to studying the “waste management value chain, existing processes and structures.”

Still in line with his campaign promises summarized under the acronym, THEMES, he visited the Lagos-Badagry expressway that was abandoned for months by the previous administration and promised to ensure that work begins on the road in this month of June.
