AIT has been shutdown by NBC. Instead of ultimatum and anger here and there, we all must cautiously look at all the issues involved and not weaponize it to promote selfish ambitions and interests. Just like NAFDAC and others, NBC is a regulatory agency task with monitoring the activities of media organisations. That one owns a media establishment does not accord that individual the right to unload whatever they want on the public, operating without renewing licence fees as at when due and ditching any content they like just because someone paid for the content. Moving forward, how about AIT pay its Licence Fee and and overhaul its Editorial Team with promise to uphold the best practices of the profession? Just because things have gone bad in Nigeria and everyone is doing whatever they like does not mean Regulations and Standards should not be upheld. NBC is a regulatory agency of the government, it will not be bullied or blackmailed into looking the other way. Consumers must be protected. It is like telling NAFDAC to ignore people producing and sell adulterated products to consumers just because those people will make profit. Allowing fallen and depressed politicians to poison the minds of Nigerians, tell ridiculous lies and spread shameless rumours will remain unacceptable and must be frowned upon by every well meaning citizen of this country. While Press Freedom is very important, it must be protected from abuse and from those who want to use it as a tool to destabilise Nigeria and promote their selfish interests. All the parties involved must act responsibly for the sake of the greater good of Nigerians. NETPRO |

dukie25: Not paying licence fees as at when due and renting out airtime to every Charlie out there to vent and spread rumours and instigating hate is not opposition. Atiku is already in court. So using AIT to engineer instability is also unacceptable. |

dukie25: NTA is a government owned media establishment, like anywhere else in the world, it is ok that its contents mostly borders on government programmes. It is not limited to Nigeria, neither did the tradition start with this administration. So your argument is misplaced. |

netpro: BBC is government owned too but it is fair and balanced. Remind me of any APC propaganda news outlet closed by the PDP government. From SaharaReporters to TVC |

dukie25: Your efforts to drag and make this about NTA is a distraction from the prevalent issue at hand. AIT must renew their licence when it is due. AIT is a media establishment in service to Nigerian public not only to the PDP. Also if AIT wants to remain in business, it must abide by laid down regulations and guidelines. |

AIT was not closed for insulting President Buhari, they have been doing that for years. Nobody cares, not even the President. AIT was closed for refusal to pay its fees that are due and for using its platform to incite anarchy. We can ignore insults on the President, but any attack on public peace is completely unacceptable. |
