Privatize or enter into PPP (with transparency) to make this vision sustainable. it must not go the way of IMO air.

Abuja to Uyo is currently fully booked for a couple of days, 15000 is a nice introductory price.

That's a great price.

All those young ladies canvassing for business at the Sheraton and Transcorp Hilton will have been on that outbound flight today and will return on Monday with full pockets and sore lipsrsealed.

Pure waste for. Akwa ibom state.

Airline that will end up not self sustaining.

State will still depend in FEC money to pay those workers

The number of Akwa ibom employed already have out numbered all AirPeace and AirArik combined (yet they have only two plane at the moment)

Government has no business doing this. It will not generate I Kobo rather they will spend to maintain it

I completely share your views.

Many folks do not know that professionally managed airlines especially in our clime, flying domestic routes barely make decent profits by the time you put together all the attendant cost of operation.

I have criticized the approach from day one and I continue to.

I will do a comprehensive report on the ‘Ibom air’ story every three months to assess its viability.

It will be my joy if they prove me wrong.

Until then,

Akwa Ibom Ayaya!

Congratulations to the governor and the state of Akwa Ibom. I hope the state keeps up with the maintenance because the major problem with Nigerian projects is not the initial startup but the maintenance. Let's see how long this well deserved revenue yielding venture would last before it becomes moribund. Nonetheless, good job!

I've said it several times but most will criticise this simple fact: government run entities fail woefully in Nigeria. The aviation industry globally generates one of the thinnest of profit margins of which the only profitable airline in Africa is Ethiopian Airlines which adopts best management practices. One might say but Qatar Airways, Singapore Airline, Etihad or Emirates Airlines are owned by governments. The difference is: these entities are better managed by private individuals which are independent of the government. No Nigerian government can manage an entity to be profitable. It has never happened before.

It's disheartening to read that a new business employs more people than she can afford to pay. Where will the money come from? Why should a new business most likely managed by incompetent individuals employ more people than the main actors in the industry?

I'm so disappointed in Udom and really wonder if it's the same PwC that I know he worked with or INSEAD he went to. Businesses are better created and managed by private individuals. As far as I am concerned, this aviation nonsense is an Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat in the skies.

Oh well its what people wanted. They should be finishing aiport projects like cargo opperations, MRO and getting it ready for more International flights. Those projects don't have cool factor like a new airline. We can wait 5 years to see if this blows up in the tax payers face.

On the bright side the flights are cheap. If I do come to Nigeria this year I'll patronise the airline.

You are not making sense. It's only your last point that makes a little sense, but it if government can manage a project efficiently, it won't be spending money on it.

Your assertion and observations might be right but you should have made some helpful suggestion to the government of akwa ibom state, who knows the governor or any promoter of the airline would be reading this and you can get yourself some consultation deal.
When next you spot a problem, please do well to profer a solution. Thanks
