“Allison Becker and Sadio Mane won the Match for Liverpool”
In my preview about this Final Match I said Liverpool was slightly better in all aspects of the game of football especially on the application of the principles of the game. There is luck in football hence two plus two in football is not always four.
Football spirit is the judge and the referee is the assistant judge or what do you see about the infringement that brought the first goal, was it planned or coincidental for Mane in a tingle of an eye to skillfully seize an opportunity to apply the correct technique at the correct spot and at correct the time. Do we call it an accident or incident when the player that committed an infringement which resulted to the spot kick scored by Mohammed Salah, do we apportion the blame to the player who caused the penalty unknowingly while delaying Mane and at the same time correcting, reminding, informing and asking his teammate to cover him up in case he was beaten or ball passed to a mate supporting Mane? Liverpool players applied all mentioned in my preview, restricting space and pressing their opposition to the extent that Kane was not given space and time to operate.
Luck played his part when Becker skillfully, timely, courageously with determination saved what was expected to be goals. Correct judgment was given here by the football judge even though Tottehham kept more ball possession, Liverpool were able to absorb the pressure. But kudos to the coaches and players of both sides, both side merited the final.
