So those that have deficits after tuition waiver and full GA according to the School Policy would have to pay the deficit when they are in school If they wouldn’t be paying any fee even insurance, you call it partial or full funding?? What concerns the school with your living expenses If they have sorted out those that concerns them. You don't have to pay that to them. Most deficits are mostly living expenses. Some includes health insurance. If you are the type that can manage, What they pay might be enough for you. 2 Likes |

Congratulations, good to know that Cousin Sponsorship can also fly for Visa Approval. Interesting read. hwfwl: Good People, here goes my interview on 30th of May 2019
V.O -Where are you going to? ME- I am going to Arkansas tech university for my master's degree in Emergency management and homeland security
V.O- Why this school? ME- when I did my research online, I discovered the schools has done a lot of research work in the area of public health hazards and responses to diseases epidemics, especially the work of Dr Sandy Smith in this areas also spurred my interest.
V.O- Which course and school did you finish from? ME- I obtained the Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the university of Benin
V-O- Why the change of course, you read Pharmacy and now Emergency management? ME- No, I am not changing, the emergency management master's degree helps me as a Pharmacist to manage public health disasters effectively. Medical practitioners are first responders to cases of disasters so as a Pharmacist, there should be proper coordination of the delivery of drugs and vaccines to this victims for example the victims of boko haram. ( I prepared better than this, with very eloquent responses but as the interview started I couldn't just reply the way I planned, started improvising and almost even stuttered at some point).
V.O- Did you write any standard exams? ME- Yes, GRE -305, TOEFL- 102
V.O- You currently work at Bleep pharmaceuticals? ME- YES
V.O- Are you coming back to work for the company when you finish your study? ME- No, I want to work for NEMA and NGOs in order to help victims of Disasters
V.O- Who's sponsoring you? ME- My cousin
V.O- let me see your bank statement( I gave it to her)
V.O- Why is he sponsoring you? ME- He has always done that for me, even up to my university education.
V.O- if this account is found to be fraudulent you will be banned from entering the United States for 10 years, blah blah. ME- I understand (kept nodding my head)
V.O- This is a corporate account, Ughhh it stops at April, Ughhh okay I will do this (typed for a while), then she tells me to provide a bank statement that ends in May, gives me the pink and white paper, then tells me to DHL my passport along with the bank statement.
I LEFT.
Three days later I submitted my passport alongside the requested documents. Administrative processing since then. The visa has been issued.
I gained and learned tremendously from this forum. Thank you all. God bless yous 2 Likes |

Modified: MTSU offers 18k as stipend to PhD GAs and a deficit of 2k, this is still partial If it’s full funding, it should be sufficient to get an i20 without the request of a bank statement (lack of deficits). Think about this bro. 1 Like |

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Philtos: 1:13pm On Jun 14, 2019 |
fairheart: If you have another school you are expecting funding from and you're willing to wait, you can pay your SEVIS fee on the AAMU i-20 now as it will be increased to $350 from June 24. So, when you get the i-20 with funding, you can transfer the SEVIS. You can also pay your visa fee, but if you'll be going to the embassy with the funded i-20, you may have to wait until you have the i-20 in hand, at least to be safe. (except you have all the details from the school you will need to schedule an appointment).
As for you recent B1/B2 refusal, well, it is very hard to predict what will happen when next you appear at the embassy for the F1 visa. But something tells me that should you not meet a consular that is understanding or you are unable to articulate yourself, career objectives, etc during the interview, the consular that'll interview you may make decision based in remark left in the system from the previous VO.
As for the last question, you're still going for a degree that is a twin of what you studied before. I like to advice people to make their own decision using available information and personal objective. Now, let's assume I am a consular, and I asked: Why are do you want to study this course? Why do you want to study food science when you already have an MS in food technology?. Seriously, why did you choose food science when you know you just completed an MS in food technology? I am sure you had your reasons, which I'd like you to share. It's your reason I'd like to see and assess--if it's worth it. For Lagos consulate, you will see date from July 12 to ending of the month. All the dates in August are open.
Good morning. I appreciate you for your kind assistance. Thank you. Alright, I chose Food Science in AAMU because the school offers five Concentrations that i can pick from. but Food product development which covers my three most important passion - Food security, food safety and product development and acceptability is what I chose. i am excited about picking a research in Flavor technology and this concentration offers me that opportunity.(I hope this works). Food technology and Food Science are like a twin indeed but the major difference is simply in the difference between technology and science. specifically, Food Technology entails courses like Food engineering; heat and mass transfer, material balance, process control etc. on the other hand, Food Science include courses like but not limited to Food Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry. need i say that i had a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering. Secondly, the second admission is MS in Chemistry. I chose that because I want to pursue a PhD in Food Science and Flavor Chemistry and honing my skills in analytical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry is crucial. Thank you. 1 Like |

Answer this question? Do you pay living expenses to the school? I wonder how you are reasoning this My question is why do you call it partial when the school call it full You are paying zero dollars to the school and you still call it partial?? The school paid 1500$ in a month to an MTSU PhD GA but they have 2k deficits on I-20 which they do not even require a bank statement to obtain. So that is also a partial funding |

I have answered this already. But let me add this. it depends on the curriculum. For instance, Food Technology offers food engineering courses in addition to several food science courses. But some food science program do not offer food engineering courses. Is this clear? 1 Like |

Food science and food engineering are similar but they are definitely not the same. Oau for example offers both and from 300 level most of their courses are different with food engineering guys taking course from mechanical engineering. Sharwama, ibruks, Kayleehey, and Pierre, congratulations. |
