There's nothing wrong with that ranking. There are several schools that are not even ranked nationally (the ones ranked regionally) and people here have gotten their visa from there
I used to say the school you want to apply to does not affect your visa and I will still say it again...I got my visa with Ashland University "a school in one small community in Ohio" that one random person was telling me ehn the school was ranked 800 bla bla...I was only concerned about the school being accredited or not..so far it was accredited and it was offering what I wanted to study, and I fit pay their school fee and they sent me admission letter,I fired down...So sometimes when I hear red flag schools, I always want to ask, how people know it's a red flag school..In Saint Paul here, there is Metropolitan State University, they have about 3 buildings or so from my own view o, but the have a lot of International students....Forget ranking, if the school is accredited is the Koko, if na ranking, why we no all apply go MIT or Harvard

Yeah, you should go for it, especially if your background is synonymous to the listed. Plus, I think you need to check the department that's offering assistanship at the time, cause she said something like funding rotates between the departments. I'm not certain though
Thanks

Baba, stop stop joining Ashland n Harvard in the same paragraph. cheesy

1. How many of those "3 building schools" give assistantship?

2. How many career fair is held at those schools? Do recruiters even know where they are in a map?

3. These schools will have around 5k students but 70% of students are part-time. How can u enjoy the campus experience when the school is Virtually empty?

4. I can also bet their Profs are almost all adjuncts.

The last time I checked Ashland university MBA during an argument... only 2 of their Profs have a PhD as listed on their website. They also have two other staffs listed as "recruiters." Which means the school has the same number of marketers as they do Profs....rings any bells?

There is life after Msc or MBA. I read a review about a different MBA program, dude said he later couldn't even put his MBA degree on his CV as recruiters kept calling him out. Go to a big school with lots of students, and that is well funded, not necessarily a highly ranked school. avoid those "3 building schools" as much as u can except u just need d kpali.

People just want to Japa forgetting that there is life after school and there is possibility of being booted back to naija. If you attend those unknown schools and you return back to naija, even naija employers will laugh at your CV. The benefits of attending known schools can not be over-emphasized. Don't go to schools with mentality of "sofa i don jand." What then happens to you life after school?

Hello E-family,
Great job our seniors are doing here.

Pls any Texas a and m university, commerce student or prospective student here?

I ll like to find out
1. How long the admission process takes
2. Was GRE or GMAT waived for you?
3. What is the school like? From your personal experience I.e. for anyone currently studying there.

This is to guide my decision, pls help a brethren

Hi DBlessedofGod,
1) 2 weeks or thereabout depending on certain issues like number of applications and all that..... mine took 2 weeks though.
2) This is dependent on your course/department. It’s better to send an email to your department for clarity. If you’re in the sciences, consider taking either of the two exams for higher chances of getting assistantship and/or job in school. That doesn’t mean you won’t get a job if you don’t write the exam. If you are admitted, you’re good to go.
3) Of course this is subjective but I love it here. Quality of education and campus activities are great...it’s part of Texas A&M system. A lot of people complain about the environment though because it’s in a small community that’s 1hr20mins away from Dallas. So there are no activities to entertain you. There are lots of Nigerians here and 98% have GA’s.

Sorry if it’s coming late, hope this can still be useful to you.
All the best.

- Have a good WAEC/GCE. Get it evaluated by either ECE or WES. ECE does the job faster but they literally slash your GPA. Your evaluated gpa should be 3.5+/4 to stand a good chance.

- Take the SAT (1300+)

- Focus on HBCUs. They are usually more generous. Also to apply to some non-HBCUs too.
Thanks bro.. I really appreciate the help... I'm really grateful..

But there are still one or two things I'll like to clarify
Firstly.. Is there any hope of getting a good scholarship or maybe do u know anyone that has gotten it and is in the US rii now.. I mean... Is it possible to really secure it

Secondly.. Any hope of getting admitted to any university in western America.. To study Humanities courses like say Law, journalism and the likes

I'll really appreciate ur help on this also
God bless you

Guys, I'm in a bit of a dilemma now, I initially thought I would be considered for admission with a student copy of my transcript, but SD mines said they need an official copy sent to them which will cost me about 40k.
Now pvamu would need a copy to but after being evaluated which will cost me about $170 plus whatever the cost uniport will charge to send to spantran the evaluating company.
I'm yet to hear from csu long beach, but I fear they might need an official copy sent to them as well.. Another 40k!

Am I doing this right? Or is there a way I can send my transcript once to three institutions or bodies?

I need advices guys please

Evaluate your transcript with WES. which will act as your central point. Then from your wes dashboard, you can send official transcript to any school in the US for as low as $25

maybe the best way to put it would be to ask those who have gone through to share the schools that accept unofficial transcripts for admission and are probably in the range of $15k per anum, just incase I don't get funding.
I wish i had time to go through 5300 schools but brain don block as I'm scheduled to write GRE in less than a month, got to prepare small, plus man is hustling most of the day.
This shit ain't easy, wish I started last year.

Does anyone know such schools please?

Southern arkansas University accepts WES evaluated transcript, it's a public school and its fees is estimated to be average of $13,500 per year and that is what will reflect on your I-20. This includes tuition plus living expense. My tuition and fees this semester (excluding living expenses) is $3,150 for 3 courses (9 credit hours) at masters level.
you can check out the lovely school cheesy

Screenshot 1. Estimated tuition and fees per year and for complete 2years maters. (living expense not included, funding not factored too)

Just follow the steps I laid down. There are a lot of Nigerian undergraduates on very good scholarships in the US. As long as your target school offers your desired course, you’re okay.

Helo, nairalanders,
Please I need your opinion.
My school resumed yesterday 16th of January and classes starts on 21st, but I have an interview appointment on the 22nd January ( next week) . Though before I booked for the interview as I didn’t see earlier date , I wrote to the school letting them know, wether to defer to Fall or issue me an extension letter. The issued me an extension letter to present to the embassy should they ask why am going late.

But now my friend adviced me to cancel the appointment and defer to fall 2020, reason is that I may be denied because my school have already resumes. Please what’s your humble advice , is it to cancel the appointment and defer to fall, or should I go for the interview?
