This is really good news, I hope the Nigerian embassy and consulate follow suit. Now I have a question, since ICE asked schools to reissue new I-20s, do you think we can still apply with our current I-20s? Or is the I-20 really "beyond the embassy's jurisdiction" and they only need to see it as proof that you're a student (but not necessarily concerned with the fine print). |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by sonofakin: 11:33am On Jul 11, 2020 |
If the declaration from ICE remains the status quo, my guess is that we will have to get an updated i20. You can view some tweets from that @USEmbassyJA page. If all the law suits did not materialize, I guess schools will have to compromise and start issuing new i20s greenskittles: 1 Like |

Phenomenalopeye:approximately 60K. For textbook, I don't have information on that. You will have to check Jumia or Amazon for paper textbook. But I have some PDF textbooks I can send to you for free. And you can also consider tutorial for better performance |

fairheart: Thanks! But I think if I should register myself the cost will definitely reduce I need money!! According to the college board it costs $48 without essay approximately #20000+ And besides I've gotten an offer of #40000 from a tutorial center! So bro! Show me the way so I can register myself and save some change! Thanks!!! |

Phenomenalopeye: $48 for US residents. There ata additional expenses as an international student. I paid about $108 for SAT with essay, entirely online. Just go to college board'' website, create an account, and register for the SAT. The payment is one of the steps in the registration process. Once you get to the website, the rest becomes very easy. 3 Likes |

Phenomenalopeye: International passports are required. There are many free resources online, just Google "SAT test prep resources" and you'll see lots of PDFs. I would recommend you get a copy of Erica Meltzer's "The Critical Reader." It is a wonderful book for the reading section, it helped me get a near perfect score on reading. For the Weekend section, I'd recommend College Panda Writing. It's a great book for writing, very comprehensive. For Math, the official book is best, but if you are very good in Math and you'd like to challenge yourself, get a copy of John Chung's 54 SAT Math tips. It covers all possible math topics on the SAT comprehensively, but the exercises are quite difficult and challenging. For the exam day, I'd advise you eat before coming. Keep yourself calm, no tension. Time yourself. Make sure to go over your work on every section. There were some mistakes I made that I discovered while going through my work. Time yourself. Hone your concentration and focus towards the exam. 5 Likes 1 Share |

kastgeraldino:You're lucky you have your GA in place despite deferment. Most schools will put you back in pool and evaluate you against all other admitted students for the semester you're to resume and the best profile at that time gets the GA. I bet that's why most people on GA wouldn't risk deferment right now and are considering starting online just to hold tight to the GA. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by drDoom3(m): 3:54pm On Jul 11, 2020 |
Kimzylove: It depends on the University. If you are applying through the Common Application or Coalition, it would be a nice idea to explain it in the additional information section. Your transcript and letter of recommendations should come from the same school. |

Sanguine1: This doesn’t make sense. If going to work to help defray part of your tuition costs and support your family is why you want to get a visa, couldn’t the VO tell you it’s better to stay in Nigeria and study online then? It’s cheaper, you avoid additional housing costs and you can work full time since there are no work restrictions in your home country. You should come up with better arguments 1 Like |
