Hi,
Is there anyone here going to Western Illinois University in Macomb for Spring (January) 2021?

Hi all, I recently scheduled my visa interview for january 4th and then a couple of days ago I got an e-mail saying that I have been offered an appointment for October 26th (I requested an emergency appointment). My problem is that for my january 4th appointment that was scheduled, my ds-160 has a fall 2020 start date (technically, I started online classes). Do I just cancel my january 4th appointment and get a new ds-160 for my October 26th appointment?

You need a new DS-160 form that has your current start date. Just login with the previous application ID and edit that part

I panicked! I dont think the ds-160 asks for a start date or does it?

Yes it does. The part where you're asked for your expected date of arrival.

This date is ideal for Fall 2021 applicants, especially students who deferred from last fall.
For Spring 2021 applicants, you either contact Lagos consulate or wait. I am confident that more dates will be released once the first batch of students are interviewed tomorrow 9th of October.

So this bring students having their interview tomorrow to mind. Remember the interview rules:
1, As you approach the consular counter, relax yourself. Make sure you do not go in with tension as this will impair your mind from speaking flowly and confidently. I always say on this thread: interview is merely a conversation between the consular and the student--to assess your credibility for the F1 Visa. So, do all you can to be in a relaxed state.

2, Establish eyes contact with the consular. As you deliver your response to the questions, look into his/her eyes. Have a neutral countenance.

3, Listen! Some of you have not learned the art of listening in your everyday lives. Don't go to the embassy with this attitude! Listening is very, very important in having a successful F1 interview. As a student, if you can't listen, you can't grasp what you're being asked. By listening, I mean make sure you hear what you're being asked. Don't interrupt the consular if it is not necessary. There have been cases of students who did that and got refused as a result.

3, Speak steadily. Don't be fast if you're not used to going to interviews. By steadily, I mean not so fast, not so slow. Be in the middle. Give each response as smoothly as you can. Answer each question concisely. No story; don't talk about what you were not asked. The consular probably have other students to interview and there is no time. If everything goes as usual, this interview will not be more than 5 minutes.

4, Be yourself. This is where confidence comes in. In fall 2019, I coached a dude from this thread. He stammers but he didn't show this during our mock, but when he went for his interview, he was refused. Then he tried the second time, and was refused again. I was really baffled, but he told me he couldn't speak well during those two interviews because he was somehow scared, and so he stammered most of the time. So I suggested that if he will be applying again, he should tell the consular before the interview starts that he shutters. It is not your fault that you stammer, so tell the consular you stammers! As a human being that the consular is, he said he understand and that it is fine. This's his third attempt. This time, he wasn't even asked much questions, and his visa was approved. Predstan knows this guy.
So, be confident and be yourself. This is a human-to-human conversation!

5, Going with the confidence thing, wear what you're comfortable in.

6, I look forward to some good news tomorrow. All the best! grin
Can I send you a PM please, I have a question that is really bothering me concerning my interview.

Two questions guys..

Is it needed to attach a letter of support from your sponsor when the sponsor is a parent?

Also can one add his personal account statement to proof of funds even when only the sponsors account statement covers all expenses, just to improve approval chances ?

USA embassy there no need for sponsor letter especially if the person is a parent

If it covers then that ok but if you have additional then no harm adding as well

1. Please o under education, I filled my uni and high school but under high school, how do I answer course of study?

Do I list my waec subjects in that space or ?

2. Also will I be prompted to pay for my ds 160 form with my card upon submission or do I have to go to gtb to pay. I was hoping to finish up online tonight and take advantage of dates available now.

3. Is it OK to fill only my uni under education and leave out high school. Does it matter that I have 5 years gap between when I finished high school and when I gained admission to uni?
