House I intend applying alone leaving two kids behind.

Please are there success stories of people that applied without their kids cos I keep hearing of denial after the VO asks why a mother is leaving her kid behind.

How old are your kids?

6 and 3yrs old boys.

My support system is my husband and mil who lives with us. Even my current job require me to stay away from home alot and they are accustomed to this.

I do not want to alter their education, extracurricular activities and lifestyle they are used for a temporary trip I'm making.

Also I will not be able to give them the kind of care they are used to with the rigorous activities of Graduate school and my Graduate assistantship responsibilities.

I also intern to take advantage of the summer to register some more courses so I can finish my program early and return home.

I believe this a personal decision and it's ok.... although I am not a VO sha . Also depends on how young these kids are

you just have to clearly articulate your plan and your support system that will be with the kids and you can end by saying how it for a short time because you will be back after graduation ... indirectly using them as home ties. Lol

Please see my response to just wise above this comment, what do you think?

Leaving behind your kids increases your chance. I assume the VO will think no mother will abandon their infants or adolescent to go and stay in the US. From this angle, there is no negative impact on your approval.
Pls Fairheart, I have sent you a dm. I am interested in the mock interview.

People have been helping people prepare for interview for years, detailed transcripts have been posted here for years. Because one guy posted his incomplete transcript, so Nigerians don't want to help you? You really need to calm down on you crazy entitlement.

What is it that you don't understand. I don't visit nairaland that much so I won't be here to help and that was the sole reason.

There are many other transcripts that can be helpful. I guess you are difficult to deal with.

I rest my case.

All you need from sponsor is his/her bank statement. Sponsor letter is not necessary, as consulars ain't interested in reading a letter that anybody can write. Go with sponsor statement. The most important thing: have a thoroughly filled DS160 that isn't conflicting with the i-20 you're carrying.
Prepare to speak confidently during the interview.
We have already said a lot about this on the thread.

I replied in less than 2 hours because you e-mailed me when I was a little free and my computer email app notify me of every incoming message. The whole October is somewhat loosed for me, unlike September. If it is time I have studies or intensive work to do, I might ignore you for 2 months! smiley Again, if you send message to someone and they did not reply, I want you to know it's not always because they are selfish or they don't care; some people are lazy at responding to their emails; some people are not checking their messages; some people registered nairaland with old email address they no longer check or add to their mobile e-mail app.
I am going to tell you; without understanding, your adulthood is not complete. Always try to see things from others' perspective. Have understanding. This is not the same as being knowledgeable or intelligent.

You're becoming too assertive in your demand for selflessness from others. I want to assume you're a selfless person yourself, because only an unselfish person have the moral ground to demand selflessness from others. To that, I will patiently wait for the time you'll get your visa and travel. I hope you will always come here to help undergraduate students like yourself.

Ambasado4lyf:

Hello fair heart. I appreciate your assistance.

Please, I humbly request you help me to clarify my thoughts.

Scenario 1

First: On my I-20 form, three dates are specified;
The earliest admission date: 05 December, 2020

The start of class date: 11 January, 2021

Program start date: 04 January, 2021

While filling my DS190, I filled 02 December, 2020 as my arrival date.

My questions;

a.) Can the arrival date remain as 02 December 2020 or it should be 05 December , 2020? Should in case, I am to respond to the question when I will be arriving, what should it be? 05 December?

b.) If I were to be asked during interview when my class is starting, should it be 04 January, 11 January or 05 December , 2020.

Scenario 2:
The address on the I-20 form reads that of the international student and faculty office address of the school. However, when filling the DS form, I filled the Graduate school address of the same school as my point of contact address.

My question: Could this be seen as discrepancy since the address on DS does not exactly conform with that on I-20 even though, the two addresses are within the school and are both valid.

Scenario 3:
A friend of mine voluntarily filled the DS form for me because I was trying to get other things done yesterday. Towards the end, a question arise; are you the one filling this form? I told him to fill NO and instead he should put his name as the person filling the form while the signature bears my passport number.

My question: kindly, let me know if I erred regarding the above statement.

Scenario 4:

Should in case, all the above are wrong, coupled with the fact that I have submitted the DS160 from online, what can I do to effect the appropriate answer.?

Lastly, how can I know the exact monthly or annual income of a corporate business account owning to the fact that, the proceeds varies due to some factors. I asked this in order to know how to respond if such question were to be asked by the VO.
I anticipate apt responses from you and other nairalanders. Thanks.

The major mistake you made is in your arrival date...

Your school already quoted 5th December as earliest admission date and you are saying you want to arrive 2nd of December.

Border patrol will not even let you in less than 30days to your program start date....which is 4th January.

You got to know everyone different and have their own style ..... while I can respond here if quoted. I dont check pm and I think I mentioned it several times.

So if someone pm me . It not really that I am ignoring but it not my style. It not an email that I use so I can check that email once in 2 months if not more.

Also for some schools things I believe I am not the right person since some of my info might be dated as I was last a student donkey years ago...... one of the reason i feel this place has more recent information than if someone pm me for tailored student questions

Good day Erudite Scholars...
I want to make an inquiry:

Can I attend the visa interview without having the sevis receipt but only the the transaction receipt from the postal order?

I have scheduled an expedite interview with the Embassy but the sevis fee receipt is not forthcoming...

What do you mean by not forthcoming. If you have paid for it, just print it on fmjfee.com

Gurus in the house, what will be the sevis status of someone that is just going for his masters/PhD and someone that has started online? Also, will the VO see the status immediately he check the sevis?

Anyone that can explain this should kindly answer. Thanks

You should be able to print out the SEVIS receipt from the DHS.gov website which is what I did. They should've sent an email to you when you paid it as well. Then you can print it.

But you won't get the visa without the full SEVIS receipt.

For those who are picking up their visa, are the protests blocking the highways, making it difficult to get to DHL? I am going to do a pick up but it seems the protests have blocked highways.

I suggest you book an Uber that will navigate the blocked terrains. Mind you, don’t go to DHL office at Isolo. There was a generic mail sent to to me and upon arrival at Isolo, they didn’t have any of our passports. Go to VI DHL office (Muri Okunola) which I believe it’s not blocked by protesters.
