Management of risks and hazards are a part of every Movers on the job because while on loading, transiting, and off-loading heavy items, threats of different forms are usually been exposed to. I shall list that in detail later.

A fully furnished apartment or office scheduled to be evacuated first need to be analysed for potential threat. Questions needs to be asked on safety measures that can be taken in case of an emergency and solutions available if any. The items to be moved are valuable, so also are the people doing the moving and everyone around supervising, that is why control measures must be put in place to make sure everything goes according to plan.

What actions must be taken?

First, on getting to the apartment for the relocation, the moving manager or site supervisor addresses every person on ground on safety protocols and observe these four important safety practice –

-A defined muster point must be clearly shown.
-Reorientation on handling items: This is important as heavy properties like refrigerator and couch sometimes pose a challenge when taking them through the doorway. Also, boxes should be used to avoid scratches on the items.
-Truck parking space: The closer it is to the apartment or office, the better it will be. This is to ensure ease and convenience in lodging every items.
-Vests, hand gloves and gears to be used in lifting and moving.

Other considerations like the weather condition, assistance from the security personnels, and whether the apartment is on the ground floor, upstairs or high up on a story building are usually considered before commencing any job. The risk posed by apartment high up the building is not same with one on a ground floor.

A job well planned for from the onset usually goes smooth and stress free for everyone. More so, all kinds of hazards are reduced to the barest minimum.

There are some kind of hazards that must be watched out for during the moving and they include:

-An object that could fall from height, thereby hurting someone.
-Spilled chemical on the floor, or a slippery floor or stairs.
-The release of compressed gas or steam especially from the gas cylinder.
-Contact with electrodes of a battery or capacitor
-Exposure to naked electrical installations and wiring.
-Entanglement of body parts or clothing with any rotating equipment.
-Presence of sharp objects inside bags or on the ground.
And many more…
