All the food being mentioned have sugar somehow, what u should be looking at is the suitable drug to control it. It is always advised to eat healthy and then take your medication. Taking insulin to control it initially is not a bad idea. But shouldn't rely on it except for emergency.

this is what the OP needs. I have someone that even nutritionist of a particular teachings hospital couldn't get his sugar level regulated. Went to the US for treatment, same result until he met someone who introduced him to food plan (eat right), funnily rice was part of the food plan that was charted for him. He Was Using Plantain Flour But He Complained Of Constipation And He Stopped Using It. . . He Was Also Using Wheat Flour But He Stopped Due To Some Health Complications (I Think Something Concerning Blood Group O+).

Ask your doctor if he needs to change your dad's medication
