When the tissues present in the back of the mouth and nose vibrate against each other, a loud noise is given out, called snoring. This is because the tissues block the airway and the soft palate consisting of the throat, uvula and the adenoids. When the throat muscles relax during deep sleep, snoring occurs. When the airway is obstructed the air flow is also consequently obstructed, thereby causing snoring. Since there will be more friction in the narrow air way, a loud snore is given out.

The reasons for snoring can be attributed to various reasons. When a person is physically unwell, the muscle tone will be poor, leading to snoring. Relaxation of the throat can also be caused by taking sleeping pills, or anti histamines or alcohol. When there is an excessive fatty tissue in the neck, it will also contribute to snoring, as it will reduce the size of the throat path. The nasal airways can also be blocked due to stuffy nose because of cold, which makes it very difficult to pull the tissues of the throat. to be continued,
