Australia is a great study destination for international students with the quality of education at Australian Universities acclaimed worldwide. The Universities and institutions in Australia are CRICOS registered, which means that their teaching standards are quality assured with respect to the quality standards and methodology fit for International students.

However, foreign education can be expensive and it is always better to have some sort of financial aid or support when one seeks to study overseas. The Study in Australia for International Students comes with the tantalizing possibility of getting one of the many scholarships that have been put in place by the Australian Government. This article talks about ways in which you may be able to avail a scholarship to study in Australia.

About Scholarships in Australia:
In order to promote influx of International students in Australia, and to facilitate the students who have enrolled into the Universities in the country, the Australian government has invested heavily in Scholarships for International students. It is reported that more than 200 million Australian Dollars’ worth of scholarships have been introduced for Foreign nationals pursuing their education in Australia.
Few of the popular scholarships to help students fulfill their Study Abroad dream in Australia include,

Australia Awards:
Offered by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to 3161 students from 55 developing countries in 2019. These are prestigious fellowships and scholarships meant to help international students through their research, study and professional development.

Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP):
The RTP replaced the previously existing programs from 2017 including; Australian Postgraduate Awards, International Postgraduate Research Scholarships and the Research Training Scheme. The Research Training Program is a single funding pool that supports both domestic and overseas students pursuing Doctorate and Masters Research degrees. The support includes fee waiver, stipends and additional allowances for students pursuing a higher research degree.

Other Prestigious Scholarships include:
Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship
The University of Adelaide International Scholarship
Deakin International Scholarship
Global Leaders Scholarship etc.

Here are a few tips to increase your chances of getting a scholarship:

Early Application to Universities for Your Program:
A lot of scholarships are such that the University automatically considers you based on your profile which is presented during your application. Since, there are only limited scholarships to be awarded per year, your chances of getting a scholarship automatically increase if your application is received first. An application which is received later may not be eligible to be considered for a scholarship since the number of awards might already be allotted to students who have applied before and who fit the criteria.

Applying Through All Relevant Portals:
There are numerous Scholarships for International Students in Australia and you must ensure that you are aware of all of them. Search through all the information websites available for students and do not forget to check the official webpages of the Australian government regarding scholarships. It is in your interest to apply for all the available scholarships.

Consult seniors/ contacts overseas for experienced info:
A little bit of experienced advice never hurts. If you have an acquaintance who might have studied in Australia or even applied for an Australian University, you can get in touch with them. They may provide some info that you might have been unaware of such as a recently introduced scholarship scheme. They may also help you get a picture of application deadlines and other factors of importance.

Contact expert study-abroad consultants:
Overseas education consultants have had the experience of counseling and placing many students in the past and hence their information is reliable and would definitely help you in your pursuit of Higher Education Abroad. These experts can guide you through all the steps in your overseas journey, right from university and program shortlisting, finding a scholarship to visa assistance.
