Elvis778:But you ignore the reasons mentioned for the supposed changes. You also ignore the fact that since the Old laws were themselves never changed it is still not 'kosher' for Jews of the Old covenant to eat anything marked unclean. Yes, even thousands of years later, pork meat and the lot remain unclean for those who are still operating under the Old Covenant, today. And yes, Pork meat and the other items marked unclean in the Old Covenant are not so anymore for those operating under the New Covenant 2000 later. What about the cultural changes you mentioned before? Those have happened thousands of times over during the many millennia, and moral laws have changed so many times during that period as well, but the religious laws, nope |

kkins25:The Bible's command to love comes provided within a given context. The command to love your neighbor(including your enemies of course) in the bible is not a general command, as it comes with after a greater command that you love the Lord God with all your heart, mind, body and soul, or it ends up a meaningless as most self-serving displays of love that is the world we live in today. You quoted from the letter from James in your post, but you forgot to add that that letter was written to "God's people who are scattered all over the world". That information is important as it helps you understand who James was speaking to. So, yes, the Bible commands that we love, but this command is obviously not a command for everyone regardless of belief. No, it is for those who love the God that is spoken of in the Bible. That information is important. |

Kobojunkie:Forgive me if i have grasped your message wrongly. What my senses and prior knowledge of this topic has led me to deduce that you assert that God law is for the christians only. Could you elaborate further please. To love all creatures- surely would be a commandment all of humanity must abide by. I believe thats why Jesus emphasised to his disciples that the law extends to Christians and non christians alike. Please what am i missing? 1 Like 1 Share |

kkins25:Who are the Christians whom you refer to? They are individuals who of their own volition, chose to accept and submit to the New Covenant that is Jesus Christ. Yes, Jews and non-Jews are welcome by Him, but only those who prove themselves worthy of becoming His followers, through the obedience of His commandments, can indeed partake of the promise that is He, Jesus Christ. The commandments/laws in question apply only to those who wish it to -- it is foolishness to others. kkins25:You are right but remember that not everyone harbors a belief in God. Hence the reason why it only applies to those who do. That does not stop men from making the decision, for themselves, to institute such a law at a universal level. Problem ofcourse is how to enforce such a rule. Yes, the New Covenant that is Jesus Christ does indeed extend to Jews and non-Jews, but again, only those who accept and submit to the terms of the agreement are under obligation to obey the laws, and to partake of the blessings the laws offer those who submit to them.
