The Ondo state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has expressed his administration’s unwavering commitment to development of the state Inland Port to enhance transportation, create jobs and improve the socio-economic activities of the state.

Akeredolu spoke while receiving Messrs Grant & Hosseini, Foreign Experts on the installation of Amphibex 400E machine and development of Inland Sea Port at Ipare in Ilaje Local Government, in his office.

He informed the foreign experts that the inland water way was very important and key to his government, adding that by the time it is completed it would be a forerunner to the Port Ondo and accelerate socioeconomic transformation of the state.

According to him, necessary studies have been completed on the port and all necessary documents have been submitted to the appropriate authorities, saying that all that is left now is the declaration.

The governor who emphasised that the project was part of his government’s vision to improve the economic colouration of the state, also assured the team of his administration’s readiness to give them 100 percent support to ensure the success of the project.

Akeredolu also urged the experts to help resuscitate the amphibious excavator so that it could be used to dredge water ways to address issue of flooding in some parts of the state.

He equally lauded his Special Adviser on Transportation, Tobi Ogunleye and other stakeholders, for their spirited efforts to ensure the success of the project.

Earlier in their separate presentations to the governor, Mr. Ike Ezekwe, Mr. Jimmy Grant, Olusegun Balogun and Seyed Raeis-Hosseini, said Ondo state is the first state to have the Amphibex 400E which has the capacity to generate enormous revenues for the government.

The equipment was described as the leading equipment in the world in the area of dredging and clearing of water hyacinth, saying that the equipment has been installed in the state.

Raeis-Hosseini and Olusegun Balogun explained that by the time the Alape river dredging comes up stream it would ensure easy access and relieve traffic congestion on Lagos port.

Balogun added that by the time the proposed Aiyetoro Seaport takes off all the projects would serve as catalyst not only for socioeconomic development, job creation but attract a lot of investments into the state.
