I don't know am being led by the Spirit of God to write it. so I stop. Don't you think one can really lose his salvation? If I fall into sin, shouldn't I be condemned. I don't know. FEAR can take you to hell.
Believe in that salvation of yours and let the holy spirit do his work.

The fact that you doubt going to heaven because you committed sin before death simply means you are not going to heaven. You don't believe Jesus took away your sins. You only believe he took away the past sins leaving you to be responsible for the future ones. That concept doesn't make Jesus powerful.

When the Bible said Jesus takes away sins, it never said it is the past since alone.

If truly you believed that Jesus has wiped off your past, present and future sins, you will certain know that you will still make heaven despite sleeping with your neighbor's wife. Is this a licence to sin? No. Having automatic ticket to heaven doesn't mean you won't get punished for sins. You will, but it will be here on Earth, and that could be why you died on top of your neighbor's wife. But as for making heaven, it is certain.

Now, to rhe verse you cited. It is not Paul talking about not wanting to be rejected in heaven. What Paul is talking about is that he is subjecting himself to discipline so all those whom he preached to won't see him fall behind or shipwrecked. If you read the entire passage from the beginning, you will see that that's what he's talking about.

But you got confused by the word castaway which you think means he will be rejected from away. No. See the meaning of the word in the screenshot below and juxtapose it with what I've said so far.

1 Corinthians 9:26-27
26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Lolz... Rhee..a..ally!? What about if I take my own life? I'm going to heaven too? Abeg which church dey teach u all these things?
Why would the same Paul that has suffered beatings and imprisonment care about what people would say if he knew/meant he would still make heaven?

No thatz not why the person died ... I don't know if u did the believing for the person for u to discredit it.. And using your defective shipwreck quote: If someone is cast away from a travelling ship containing others.. hasn't the journey of the deserted one been truncated till he gets right by restoring fellowship?

Therez no Christianity without character this your gospel is obviously the k-legged version.

I'm sincerely moved to tell you a true life story of the guy behind these handle.
Few years back,I encountered Him.
Like,I encountered our lord and beloved saviour who died on the cross for our transgressions.
I wept . I wept because it was like my eyes was finally opened. Like a covering fell off my eyes.
I have always panted to encounter Him myself.
I was done with been told what it's all about to serve God.
I deeply was curious to know Him.
I did not fast for anything,I did not start ,suddenly to be going to church to clean it up to encounter the person that have so much be spoken about in the history of man.
But I did something before my very encounter with him.
I SINCERELY prayed to encounter Him.
The day I did,it was in my school chapel at night,I suddenly felt a very strong present.
My body start shivering very very rigorously, I fell to the floor, I was alone that very night.
I'm simply short of word of how to explain these scene of what transpired that night.
But I knew I got hold of His garment that night.
When I could control myself, I was scared & I left that school chapel for school hostel that very night.
I did not tell anyone what happened.
It was a boarding school.
But after that day, something changed about my life.
My conducts, language & how I see the world changed, but I must confess I was still struggling with sins.
I was struggling with porn. Yes,I do watch porns before my experience that very night, and still struggled with it after that night.
I was lucky to have read one magazine about the second work of grace, called sanctification from one of those deeper life magazine, women mirrior.
I was then I realised that my encounter that night was not enough.
I need sanctification .
I continued to ask God to sanctify me.
I did not fast for it,I didn't do any good work for it,but I only SINCERELY prayed for it.
What I later felt transcend all knowledge, experience & understanding I have ever felt in my life.
I started speaking in tongue,I couldn't control it,when ever I pray.
I burned for God.
Anybody in government science secondary school ,Abaji,Abuja ,2015/2016 period can attest to my claims.
I burned for God,I could lay hand on the sick & they will be healed.
I could preach in the school chapel & people will be crying. Shedding tears asking God to forgive them.
I felt the present of Holy spirit in me.
My mum could attest to it,my younger ones.

But it was short lived.

My praying life begin to slow down,my bible reading life begin to die down.
I became to grow lukewarm about God's work, I was actually affected because I failed my ssce that year,I had issue in my maths.
So,I will have to rewrite the next year.
I was devastated..
Since then till these very moment an typing these message to you,I never felt that present again.
I have been struggling with masturbation, porn ,again, & lies ever since I stopped burning for God.
I feel ashamed of myself now, especially when I meet people that knew me during those period
I feel empty, totally empty compared to them I felt a present in me.
I feel I should just share these with you,it may help you find the answer you seek.

Take care..

Philippians 2:12 is one of the most highly misunderstood verses of the scripture. This wouldn’t have been so if we had never mastered the act of lifting scriptures out of context and making it say what it was never meant to.

In a bid to discredit and prove the Truth of eternal salvation wrong, most people have greatly misconstrued this beautiful verse of the scripture.

(Php 2:12) Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

What was Paul the apostle trying to say here? What does this verse really mean?

First, unlike what is popularly believed out there, this verse isn’t asking you to work for your salvation. It said work it out.

I really need you to understand that to work out your Salvation is not the same as working for it. When people read this verse, they often make the mistake of thinking they are the same. They think the verse is asking you to do something (good things) in order to produce or receive your own salvation.

This is a very wrong notion because as important as our good works are, they count for nothing when it comes to being a criteria for salvation. They cannot merit or provide that wonderful experience for us. That is why Salvation is a gift.

(Eph 2:cool For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

(Eph 2:9) Not of works, lest any man should boast.

As a matter of fact when it comes to Salvation, our good works (self righteousness) are counted before God as used or dirty sanitary rag.

(Isa 64:6) But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

It is that useless when used as a criteria for receiving Salvation. This is why Salvation is a complete gift of God’s grace received only by Faith. Not merits.

The statement “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” was an apostolic instruction Paul gave to the Philippian church, charging them to live uprightly as those who have received God’s salvation already within their spirits.

He wasn’t asking them to live uprightly in order to receive salvation. That is to work for it. He was asking them to live uprightly because they have been saved already. The next verse to that one throws more light, take a look at it.

(Php 2:12) Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

(Php 2:13) For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

God works within you so you let the world see it. Let what God has done within you reflect on the outside. In your words and conducts. Since you are saved, live like it.

The instruction is similar to what Jesus said to His disciples after calling them the Lights of the world.

(Mat 5:14) Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

(Mat 5:15) Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

(Mat 5:16) Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

So as Christians, the whole of Philippians 2 encourages us to live the life of Christ on the earth. Not so as God would pat us on the back and offer us His salvation as a reward for our good living. It is simply because we have already received that Salvation as a gift, empowering us us to live righteously in this crooked world.

It is like the popular song, “Let the world see Jesus in your eyes….” How can they see Jesus in your eyes or life if you don’t already have Him living within you? How can you work out your salvation if you don’t already have that salvation given to you?

You have received the workings of God within you (Salvation) so you let it reflect in your lifestyle (work it out). That is what Philippians 2:12 is saying, not the other way round.

I hope this blesses you.

Glory to God, our Saviour and King!

Thanks. I some how have the same story with you. though I didn't grew to the level healing people but I could attest to the fact that I was growing in faith and spirituality. I could live for weeks without committing any sin. I started speaking with other tongues. But then, I started backsliding. Like you, I started struggling with porn and lying. But do you know what I have come to understand, I have come to understand that I was doing things with my own strength. I was living thinking that since God have save me, I should live the rest of my life trying to live a righteous life. But do you know what, this was not God meant when He gave Christ. He gave us Christ that we would be Holy, unblameable and unreproveable in his sight(col 1:22). So we are forever holy and unblameable in God's sight. So now, I have now seeing myself as God sees me, not minding that I still struggle with sin. I still fall something, but this time is different when I fall. When I fall, I don't fell condemned like before. I go on my knees and ask God for forgiveness. Though am still struggling, but I know I will overcome. but in the sight of God, I am still holy and unblameable, not because of my behavior, but because of what Christ has done. this is the only way I see myself. I hope this help you. I would like to know you. I don't know how to pm, I would have sent you one. this is number 09011848519. Thanks

Simple scenario please: I give my life to Christ today and tomorrow I slept with my neighbour's wife and died on top of her...

Question : Am I going to heaven?

Question 2: 1 Cor 9:27 What did Paul mean by being a Castaway?

question 1. u just mentioned one sin that u think is big enough to send someone to hell. but read revelation 21 Vs 8. God mentioned lying along side murderer and idolaters among sin that will take a person to hell fire, a lair is as guilty as you been on top of ur neighbor. God has lay down punishment for believes and unbelievers who sin but believers will face more because they are meant to be light of the world.
.....to ur second question. what Paul was saying is that same thing as (php 2 Vs 12) that says work out ur salvation. let me explain this, u only workout ur salvation for men to see, if i come to u dress as a pastor and then tell u that am a footballer will u believe me? the only way a believer can lead unbeliever to Christ is by living a good live. that why paul was saying that he brings his body to subjection lest that by any means, when i have preached to others, i myself should be a castaway

Salvation is by grace, which means it's the work of God. However, we have our part to play in it as well. James 2:14-16 makes us realise that good works must accompany our faith which is a gift in the first place. It's based on these that the judgement of God will anchor. Do not forget the words of Jesus in Matt. 7:21-22 that not all who call Him will be saved but those who DO THE WILL OF THE FATHER.....

How dumb can you be this time....Explaining "castaway " with English dictionary

Working out your salvation is the conscious effort we make to live for God through obedience of his word. I can't see that I'm save and constantly and consciously live contrary to God's word. no. that will be living in hypocrisy.

Salvation was freely given to me, but I also accepted by my acknowledgement, confession and believe in God. And in order for me to preserve it, I have to consciously study God's word and make God's word the standard in all I do. If you don't work to preserve your salvation, you would lose it because once saved is not forever saved. you must keep renewing your mind and character in line with God's word

thanks
you should focus more on what the bible says rather than opinions.

The bible says if you are bornagain you are a new creature and God will preserve you faultless and blameless before him but however you should walk in the new nature God has given to you not the old nature of sin but if you do sin you can seek God to forgive you and cleanse you from unrighteousness.
The only sin a believer sin is walking in the flesh

Nobody is saved already. So far you're still alive, you can't be saved because you're human and you can still mess up at anytime. He who is standing should be careful so that he doesn't fall. The admonition from Paul is that we should work out our salvation with the fear of falling out of the way to the Kingdom. You're afraid of loosing out, hence we'll be careful in how we live our lives. Salvation is your way of life. It's a continuous process till when the end comes. If a man living a clean life for 30 years and he suddenly start living a bad life and dies.... How will God judge him? So how can you say he's saved?

Op is on point I wrote something similar to this.
The problem is that people read scripture out of context.
Working out your salvation is not living right so you can make heaven but living right so that people will see the evidence that you are really saved.

It says work outside what God is working inside just as a computer and a printer. The printer only printout what the computer has sent to him.

If you are not saved there will be nothing to work out.

The difference is between "works" and "good works" as used in the scriptures. Works are solely the product of human power, intellect and understanding and they count for nothing before God as you have mentioned but check the scriptures, good works are encouraged as they are the products of the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Work out your salvation with fear and trembling simply refers to those people who don't bother searching the word of God to know what it says, they take their men of God more seriously than God Himself. On the last day everyone will account for his deeds including the men of God. On that day, you wont blame your pastor for misleading you or omitting somethings. The word of God is there for you, so work out your salvation yourself.

The second category of people are those that don't want to serve God because of other people. Some people are under family pressure to serve God. And some don't want to serve God because of their family or friends That is why the bible says the day shall come when He shall separate those that serve Him and those that serve Him not. On that day, you're the only one accountable for your deeds and decisions.

So brethren, work out your salvation with fear and trembling bearing in mind that only you will stand on the last day.

I think you are sincerely wrong.
The Op is just right.
Working out your salvation is in knowing not just in doing.

Love your contributions though.

Don't mind these false teachings peddlers, all they do is listen to these celebrity pastors who preach to justifies their conscience of numerous scandals they are, twisting the word.. Many of these preachers are not godly, hence they preach to deceive people who want to keep sinning and yet believing to be covered by grace that took a whole life of sinless soul.
Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
His mere professing to believe in Christ all, even Christ said we should abide in him, could that be just to mere believing, he told us to obey and keep his commandments is that just mere profession? We can only be His friend when we do so and not just believing and slip to sin and keep on saying we must sin as long as we're on earth and still being saved.

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of f men, who HOLD the TRUTH IN UNRIGHTEOUSNESS { Keep sinning, yet shouting I'm covered}
Bro, don't mind these fellows, read the book of Roman and James, and pray for proper understanding.
We will all stand alone to be judged, God expected us to live a life that is dead to sin. Romans 6:20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. Now tell me how we sin and still righteous..

Salvation is by grace, which means it's the work of God. However, we have our part to play in it as well. James 2:14-16 makes us realise that good works must accompany our faith which is a gift in the first place. It's based on these that the judgement of God will anchor. Do not forget the words of Jesus in Matt. 7:21-22 that not all who call Him will be saved but those who DO THE WILL OF THE FATHER.....
there are thousands of verses in the Bible that command a Christian to live right but putting grace and work together will not take u to heaven ROMANs 11 Vs 5 -6

do u even know the will of God? JOHN 6 Vs 40 says "AND THIS IS THE WILL OF HIM THAT SENT ME,that everyone who seeth the Son, and beliveth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day
