Oga, don't mention IQ and money making in the same sentence. Anyone can make money. The fact that money is the ultimate ambition for most Nigerians including yourself should not he a yardstick to judge others.

He was invited to camp not based on his bank balance and viewers did not tune in yestetday to see his financial assets but his sporting performance. That is the basis of this thread. And if you understand how short a sporting career is you will realise just how fleeting their so called wealth is. Top players do evetything to prolong their careers by performance simply because of what you seem to like and prefer.... money.

Mikel knows this and that is why he has unretired from the national team quite a few times.

Oil dey your head bro.

kudos!!

That is history. Sports is about present form. Present form wins trophies except we are in Egypt for exhibition. And on the balance yesterday he wasn't fit for the first team. If he played on, the match will have been drawn at best and calculators will be out.

Don't be stupid.

Messi and Mikel were the two best players in that competition and coming off that competition, the world was expecting much from Mikel. We all remember the struggles of Manchester United and Chelsea over him, including court injunctions. Go and read about what Mourinho said about Mikel when Chelsea eventually won the rights to him. Even Messi did not get so much buzz.

As for legends, Mikel does not come close to the first 10 even among the midfielders that we have had.
you are Just foolishly emotional...age grade football is different from top tier football...nwakali was best in 2015 Under 17 today chukwueze who was third is in national team ahead of him....
Mikel has paid his dues and lived to expectations...
if you think he is not in the top ten great players of all times for Nigeria..na for ur pocket..the fact and statistics are out there...
using Messi to judge him is crass stupidity...afta all Mikel has an international trophy and Messi don't have one..
Aguero was best 2007 under 20 has he won ballon dor??
Neymar, casemiro, allison were no where in 2009 under 17 today de are pillars for club and country...that Mikel played well in Age grade and has done well over a decade for club and country shows he is good

Can see that there are so many haters of Mikel here. This guy won best passer in epl for months in the presence of Paul Scholes, he was a key figure in chelsea champions league triumph especially in the victory over Barcelona. Give the guy a break

Pls guys stop blaming Mike Coz I don't see any crime he has committed, rather put the blame on the coach whose formation almost cost us the game.... playing players out of their normal position is very dangerous, if u must play 352 formation then every players must be in their rightful place, but I would have preferred he go for 433, with musa and igaloh in the starting line and then u will see what Mikel is capable of doing.... and Las Las he should Pls change that keeper that likes playing with ball like he's playing for Barcelona
Good submission. Football of now a days is different from football of today. Mikel has served Nigeria very well. One match below par does not mean that he is not a good player. All the minors in African soccer has wake up now. Nigeria has oppressed them so long and they are trying to catch up with us. It is easy for Nigeria to beat Cameroon than to beat Lesotho or Burundi. You should understand that whenever all this minor wants to play with Nigeria ,they want to proof a point. In those days ,we used to beat South Africa both home and away ,can we do that again. Who thought that South Africa can come and beat us 2-0 in our back yard. Mikel has tried for us.Don't condemned him. Yoruba people say If U used your right hand to scold your child used the other hand to draw him to your side. Let's enjoy the big show in our continent.

Your stupidity is staggering.

We are talking about Mikel, you talking nonsense.

Perhaps, you need to go back and read news articles in 2005. Mikel was not just one of the best players in the 2005 u20 World Cup, but he was someone whom everyone knew had the potential to be one of the best midfielders in the world. His gift was obvious to some of the best coaches of that time.

And he had started well on the pitch with Chelsea, but partying and constant absence in training destroyed him.

You are the biggest fool in the world.

Show me where I wrote that partying is wrong?

Alcohol is not bad. It even has health benefits. But when you consume it excessively and it becomes to affect your life, then it becomes a problem.

Mikel was constantly partying to the extent that he was missing trainings. Is that a good thing to do? Will you party when you should be at work at a period in your life when you should be building your career.

Yet again, you are bringing Iheanacho in this. Perhaps, you cannot remember how high Mikel's profile was after that youth world cup. Who is Iheanacho again? He was only touted as a natural striker. Nothing else. Mikel was seen as midfielder with the potential to rule the world.
