Jonathan Should Resign-ciroma by Mbeki: 9:43am On Oct 06, 2010
Meanwhile, the Northern Political Leaders Forum led by the former Minister of Finance, Malam Adamu Ciroma, has called on Jonathan to resign immediately or face impeachment proceedings by the National Assembly.

The Forum has Babangida, Atiku, former Senate President Ayu and several prominent leaders from the North as members.
The group, known as G.15, is in the forefront of the campaign for zoning the presidential slot to the North.

Ciroma, who was reacting on the October 1 bombings, said: “Now that the president has proven that he is incapable of leading the nation justly and fairly and that he is desperate enough to want to hang mass murder around the neck of unnamed Northerners to achieve his second term, we as citizens of this country have totally lost confidence in his leadership and hereby call on him to immediately resign.

“If he fails to do so by the end of the week, we call on the National Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against him with immediate effect.

“We state, without any equivocation that, as Northerners and as citizens of this country, we no longer feel safe and secure under his leadership.”

According to Ciroma, “Even more disturbing was the declaration by the President, only hours into the bombing investigations, that he knew who the attackers were. Is President Goodluck Jonathan a closet member of MEND or is there more to the President's curious posture than meets the eye?

“Just before this statement was due to be released to the media, the answer to the second question began to emerge. The Department of State Security finally succumbed to political pressure from the President himself and followed in the footsteps of the EFCC to target the President’s political opponents.”

Repeatedly, Nigerians have been butchered and killed during “religious riots” in Northern Nigeria, the latest and most recurring being the Jos and Plateau State pogrom. Ciroma and his group were silent and did not ask President Yar’Adua, who was president during the peak of the crisis last year, to resign.

Nigerian politics is so pedestrian. So predictable. And the people so gullible.

I'm baffled that selfish people like Ciroma, Yakassai, Atiku and IBB are provided with platforms to air garbage.

These guys are the problem Nigeria faces today. They are the ones holding us back and determined to retain northern dominance at any cost.

Why are these people so scared of Obasanjo and the south in general? With every passing day, I appreciate what Obasanjo was / is all about. Nigeria is not the exclusive domain of these backward, illiterate and selfish lot.

the same sentiment i also share, while the hell are they calling for the president to resign if not for their selfish reasons. they can bomb all the north for all i care, this world as a whole is filled with wicked and cunning fellows.

The day that they have this man impeached, is the day nigeria as a country disintegrates. They should not let the greed of power lure them to the cliff.

What nonsense from CIROME camp calling on the president to resign, this are the people that want this country to breakup

I have said it b4,and I will say it again that Ciroma has a hand in this bombing wahala.

There is a political battle going on within PDP, on power-sharing. The party's policy of zone is to ensure every ethnic group benefits from power, since ethnicity is the sole power base of every nigerian politican. On such agreement did Jonathan jump on board, the system has once profited the West/South, and its the Northerners' turn. Now its against him and then wants to destroy everything altogether. i think that is too selfish. Jonathan is a crook! If nigerians do not like zoning, they should vote for another competent party.

The idea of Jonathan backing a rebel group from his region and then pushing the blame on his political rivals, lacks all sense and too backward. The so-called investigation has not being thru, but Jonathan is pointing fingers.

I don't understand how that is justification for government negligence. The security services got the warning long before the explosion, that is called incompetence! Besides as a religious conflict, both the Christians and Muslims had their hands deep in blood.

Ciroma and his cohorts should rest in peace. They don't speak for the north. They speak for their pockets and interest. This man's career was not based on merit but through the zoning arrangement. No wonder he will die where our freedom from zoning begins.
Re: Jonathan Should Resign-ciroma by 5columnist: 3:02pm On Oct 06, 2010
K 17 you must be smoking beans. What zoning arrangement. That is the thinking of old and why are so concerned about PDP enternal affairs? Ciroma and his cronies should rest in peace before they destroy Nigeria. Ciroma do not speak like an elder state man. He has threatened this country far more than anyone else with his careless utterances since Jonathan's declaration was well received.

You must be an agent of of IBB as well.

It is patently obvious that the request for Jonathan to resign is absurd !

What moral fibre or character do they who are asking Jonathan to resign have ? I never heard that they resigned when they were in government and failed in their duties !

We want Jonathan to stay and contest the up coming elections. We will support and vote for him. End of discussion
Re: Jonathan Should Resign-ciroma by cpatra(f): 3:10pm On Oct 06, 2010
Ciroma and co should bomb the whole northern states, only then will I say there's no security. As for now they've no case.

Brainless hooligans!

It will make little sense to tell us it is the turn of North West
Atiku, IBB and Saraki are not from that zone. Only Aliyu Gusau is.

By the way, is that enough reason for desperate IBB to bomb Abuja?
Re: Jonathan Should Resign-ciroma by Olaolufred(m): 3:24pm On Oct 06, 2010
Rogues and killers asking a comparative "saint" to resign.

They lost this battle before starting it at all.

IBB and his cronies should go and die since they are all in their 60s.

The next generation is not for them at all.

May they all die a miserable death.

Amen.
Re: Jonathan Should Resign-ciroma by Mbeki: 4:20pm On Oct 06, 2010
The truth is, Northerners are not used to being out of power, and is like since the return to democracy, they've lost the grasps as such are fighting dirty to get back at all cost, remember one state in the north has the slogan that they are ""BORN TO RULE"

Though, i do not believe in zoning, the best time for Jonathan and his cronies to oppose it was from its inception and not now.
Besides we are still in the primitive times, Niger Delta is burning the country.

in a decent country, a disaster as the Abuja bombings, would culminate to the fall of a government. like in Japan, prime minister fails on his promises and six months after taking power, resigns. the incompetence Jonathan has shown in handling this crisis is enough to impeach him.

Goddex:

And you believe he bombed Abuja? You got that info from your dream? mend claims responsibility, jonathan says its not his ppl, ex militants say its not mend and Okah a high figure in mend is prosecuted for the bombings, and Jonathan has promised to destroy Okah. What a clear picture!

^^^^^^^^^^

Dont you understand English or you are just attempting to be clever by half? someone asked a question, if the north believes in zoning, then it should go to NORTH WEST, so why do we have IBB,SARAKI AND ATIKU in the race? Answer that first then we can take it from there, else just keep quiet.
Re: Jonathan Should Resign-ciroma by Kay17: 8:53pm On Oct 06, 2010
Primarily, the bone of contention is whether the zoning arrangement still exists. Atiku, Saraki and co are taking advantage of the chaos caused by Jonathan.

Crap, they are in the race because they have chosen to interprete zoning the "mallam way". They have all spoken in support zoning and stated that as the reason they want to run.

ah, wrong! they are in the race because they have chosen to interprete the zoning agreement in the PDP the way it really ought to be, as is.
