Nigeria is typical of most African countries. Most people are very poor. In fact 60% live below the so called poverty line, which is $1 a day. But for others, the country offers plenty of challenges, adventure and great riches.

Nigerians are an industrious, highly educated and friendly people. They have a live and let live mentality but despite the country's wealth most live in abject poverty due to an history of poor governance and corruption. A few are doing very well. In Nigeria poverty and riches are only a few doors apart.

You'll find traffic congested roads full of people including kids hawking their trade, choking traffic, extremely high noise pollution levels and the lawless behavior of motorists makes it all very lively and challenging.

However for the adventurous or business person, life can be lots of fun once you learn to tolerate the chaos and human behavior that stems from poverty.

Nigerians are culturally rich, welcoming and entertaining. If you're reading this, chances are your friends are relatively rich and you'll be living in a nice part of town and visiting all the nice places.

You'll find plenty of modern restaurants serving local or international dishes, bars, hotels and a vibrant array of markets or shopping malls. Upmarket real estate, modern satellite TV, 3G mobile communications and an intelligent media are all there for you to enjoy.
