Dear social media users,

Mine attention has been drawn to the noise that has set twitter and other social media agog.

If you are a good user of social media, you will agree with me that morality in this country is in a sorry state.
For quite some time, my mind has hovered on the level of moral decadence that is fast eating deep into the life and systems of the Nigerian youths, I am afraid it is a cause for alarm.

According to reports, a mild drama ensued in a plane between a young man and an elderly man who has rigorously earned the respect of majority of Nigerian Citizens through his acute and blunt criticism of mediocrity in the Government of this beloved country as portray in his literary works. I am talking of no other but Prof. Wole Soyinka.

Pardon me, If you are not a lover of literature you may uninterestingly find this boring as well as see no reason for this long epistle.
Let me be quick to remind us that Professor Wole Soyinka is a respectable elderly man who has paid his dues in this country and endeared himself to many, ought to be accorded due respect.
If you are a youth perusing through this, learn to respect people whether great or small because one day, our level of moral value will come to full display.

It is quite amazing, how the young man who probably was unknown to many prior to this time has suddenly shoot into limelight because of an act of disrespect and disrepute.
Yet, the pitiable youths whom themselves had lost moral values are busy applauding the young man who was said to have commandeered the old man Out of his seat.
This single act by this young man coupled with the reactions from youths who themselves constitutes a larger percentage of the social media, portrays the fact that a vast number of Nigerian youths no longer have respect for elders.

Come what may, if you observed that your seat has been wrongly occupied by an elderly man, courtesy demands that you politely tell the elderly man or it actually cost you nothing to vacate the seat for him.
I know a lot of these young people will criticize me for this. Nevertheless, truth must be said.
I am afraid, with these sets of young people coming up in this country, we may soon bid our moral values farewell. Such values that our fathers have held in high esteem.

From a concerned youth.

Story story.
We need to stop being superficial in this country.
We should stop mistaking respect for servitude and endurance.
My definition of respect is treating people right as I would love to be treated.
No need sugarcoating these talks of respect for elders blah blah every human being deserve to be respected no matter their age if you respect yourselves others would respect you.
Soyinka didrespected himself by seating in someone else's seat and disobeying flight rules. If he wanted to avoid such he should have waited in his seat and patiently plead with the boy to let him seat on his seat that way all these drama would have been avoided.
Respect is earned it is a privilege and not a right.
Thumbs up to that boy who spoke out for himself.

What point exactly is the young man trying to prove? That he was able to chase a popular elderly man out of his seat?

About the issue of sitting wrongly, can't the elderly man make mistakes again?

I can't speak for the young man if you see him ask him. So because he is popular that is why it is a hullabaloo what if it was an ordinary person you won't lecture us about respect is that what you are saying? All these eye service self undecided
Yes everyone makes mistakes, he made a mistake and should own up to it instead of given a free pass because he is an elder angry
