The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a one year compulsory service programme for all students in Nigeria upon their completion of any higher education.

Prospective students are usually posted randomly to one of the 36 states in the country, including the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja). Thereafter, they’re assigned to various sectors in the country, as well as local communities.

The government also mandated a monthly stipend of 19,800 Naira, which is generally referred to as their allowance/allowee. Though, there has been speculation spreading around lately, that government will increase their allowance to the new minimum wage which is 30,000 Naira.
