President Muhammadu Buhari has formally recognized late Dr. Stella Adedovoh, five years after she died in the course of saving the nation from a major disaster, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports Dr. Adedovoh is the late medical personnel who helped curtail the spread of Ebola in the country, by preventing escape attempt by some persons who were quarantined in Lagos, year 2014.

The late Dr. Stella Adedovoh was honoured with a posthumous award for her “sacrifice” and “heroism” by the president, on behalf of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

She is credited with having curbed a wider spread of the Ebola virus in Nigeria by placing Patrick Sawyer, a Liberian national, in quarantine despite pressures from the Liberian government. When threatened by Liberian officials who wanted the patient to be discharged to attend a conference, she resisted the pressure and said, “for the greater public good” she would not release him.

She is known for preventing the Nigerian index case from leaving the hospital at the time of diagnosis, thereby playing a key role in curbing the spread of the virus in Nigeria.

On 4 August 2014, it was confirmed that she had tested positive for Ebola virus disease and was being treated. Adadevoh died in the afternoon of 19 August 2014.

In a statement on Twitter, which was obtained by Igbere TV, Buhari wrote;

“Today, in my capacity as ECOWAS Chairman, I presented a posthumous ECOWAS Award of Excellence to Mr. Bankole Cardoso, on behalf of his mother, the late Dr. Stella Adadevoh.
Dr. Adadevoh’s sacrifice and heroism, for Nigeria, in the fight against Ebola, will never be forgotten.”

Igbere TV reports that the President also formally recognized late Kofi Annan, a Ghanaian Diplomat who served as the 7th Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) with a posthumous award, on behalf of ECOWAS.

A man who promised to stop public office holders from seeking medical treatment abroad but was first to break the promise...

Such a man has no integrity

Such a man is a disaster

Anybody who supports such a man is worse than Ebola
