This is in response to the story that the Enugu Police command refuted the video making rounds that Fulani herdsmen were driven out of Nenwe community by the indigenes

Nenwe is a community in Nkanu is about a 15 minute drive away from the city of Enugu in Enugu state. The people know what the herdsmen are capable of. A few years ago, Herdsmen descended on the neighbouring community of Awgu and destroyed their farmlands.

In the video, the herdsmen and their cattle can be seen moving out of the main road that leads into Nenwe, hotly followed by men, women and children who had sticks in their hand. People could be heard in Igbo congratulating the crowd for chasing the herdsmen out.

The Fulani herdsmen have been declared the fourth deadliest terrorist group in the world. In Nigeria, the armed Fulani herdsmen kill thousands of Nigerians and destroy billions worth of property and agricultural products every year. The government of Nigeria has refused to proscribe them and attempts are being made to appropriate lands to them.

Congratulations to the people of Nenwe for driving out the invaders!

I watched the video carefully and did not note any Fulani man, woman or child; but their herd of cows being chased away along the highway by an army of sticks and machete wielding local Igbo natives.

Some ppl may not see anything wrong with this and may even condone it;however, it is a violation of the constitution which guarantees the right to freedom of movement and association of every citizen to move and lawfully settle anywhere in Nigeria.

Those condoning this action now, may be setting a precedence which they themselves may later come to reap: it may not be inconceivable if one day Igbos should wake up and find themselves similarly being chased out of northern communities; for fear that their kinsmen may endangering the ppl through pushing of fake medicinal drugs as well as illicit drugs etc.

As can be seen from the video, the Fulani were completely separated from their cattle, the consequence of which could easily lead to loss of a significant number of them, either through outright theft or abandonment.

The community may now be feeling it had solved its immediate problem with the Fulani; but may in actuality have contracted a longer term and more deadlier threat of reprisals, in the cold of the night when they feel comfortable in their sleep.

Community leaders should have invited to police to come and handled the matter rather than taking the law into their hands, as they did.
