Just Recently, North Carolina State Parks and Recreation posted pictures of a Snake referred to as “Zombie Snake” which was found in its park field.

The snake specie is known as Heterodon plat rhinos, or more commonly, the eastern hog-nose snake.

Zombie snakes are known to measure up around 20 to 33 inches long and have a slightly upturned, pointed snout, according to Florida Museum. Zombie Snakes are known to appear in various colors such as Yellow, tan, olive, brown, gray, orange or reddish brown with dark blotches.

According to the Florida Museum, Zombie Snakes are harmless.

I’ve heard of that snake a long time ago I eve saw a documentary about it.


It is harmless. Has no poison and is not aggressive so the only way to discourage predators is to act as if it’s dead when threatened.
