In the continued fight by The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, against examination malpractices of all sorts, The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested a Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, candidate, Cletus Kokowa, for reportedly patronizing a syndicate to upgrade his scores from 162 to 206. The candidate with Registration Number 95329290ED from Bayelsa State, was arrested on Thursday at the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, where he confessed to being asked to pay the sum of N10,000 for the supposed upgrading.


According to reports, Cletus reached the syndicate through a WhatsApp group a few weeks ago after he learnt that they could upgrade his score from 162. However, he was later sent a message containing a fake result notification stating that his score was now 206. However, his UTME results remained unchanged in the JAMB portal which prompted the father of the victim to write a letter of complaint to the board seeking the correction of his son’s score.
