Very simple. Bring like minds together and brain storm for one week, there definitely will be a way. Compile the list of Obasanjo's achievements in the military and as president in a book and title it "BABA: THE FATHER OF MODERN NIGERIA" Then head to Abuja (after all the runs here and there), call for launching of the book and association. Thats all. The rest things go fall in place. |

hey guys, i read all your contributions, they are all nice once. but i think the best way to start this is from nairaland forum. we organise some thing like virtual election were we select all our officials here on nairaland. i belive by this we can start some thing. even organising some online meetings b/4 we can start thinking of how to meet phisically. so how do see it. you know that a journey of a of thousand miles start with one step. think about it. |

Nigerian youths should prove themselves as honest hardworking and reliable. When we have young people doing the same thing our old tired leaders are doing i weep. The rate of armed robbery , prostitution 419 is really alarming. I know some people will say this is due to bad leadership and poverty but i can say that not all poor people are criminals. We need to have an ideology that dignifies hardwork, patience and sacrifice. We also need to develop the spirit of socail responsibilty, this is our country, this is our future, contribute your little quota, Dont steal, exempt yourself from examination malpractice, keep our cities clean, volunteer your services to old and weak people. Lets start by doing little things so we can be trusted with great things. |

Joining any exisiting party will not make any change or generational shift possible rather it will mean aligning with the govt we all agree is doing more harm than good to our country. Forming a fresh party for the youth with vision might be a way out but to tell u the truth, i am not too enthusistic about it cos the older rogues are too strong they are likely to frustrate such a group. These rougues in and around power have to be 'disarmed' for any meaningful change to be effected in Nigeria and one of the ways to disarm them is to retrieve their loot (our money) without money, most of them are nothing. we (youth) also need to change our orientation and stop the worship of money. we need to realise that if the system is allowed to work, we dont need loads of money to survive e.g no need to buy generator and diesel if only power will be constant. |

Hello Everybody, I am very impressed that the youth can glaringly see the problem and injsutice in this our country. However, we are full of anger and that may blind our approaching the matter constructively and systematically. Let me start by saying that we should try also to give credit to whom it is due even when we dish out our displeasure. Firstly, for one reason I will say that a lot of people if they do not do a critical examination may not agree with me. You see that man OBJ for some reason find wisdom in his second term and appoint people like Soludo. Okonla-iweji. Ezesksili, Akinyuli, El -rufai, Ribadu etc- do you think this is just a pure coincidence or a man who have good intention of turning the country around. I will say OBJ has good intention of turning the country around but he is too old to be radical and purge Nigeria of their corrupt ways perphas he himself may have been compromised along the way. None of those ministers and CBN governor has nay father or grandfather as a previous in any government. So OBJ must have good intentions by appointing them in the first place and give them free hand to do what they think is right. Secondly, you guy should read the contributions of aisha and angel101, start to change ourselves and orientation and then we can go after all the oldies, but we have to find a way to wrestle their powerbase away from them-Looted money. without good capital(capitalist and capitalism) base a socialist is just a noisemaker. Joining PDP or any other party as they are presently constituted would propably not make any diffrence as these are well entrenched machinery and has a patronage built into it. They will silence you with money. If they can't do that they will fabricate and get rid of you once they know your true intention. Infact they will even plant their informant in whatever meeting to be held and neutralise the so called youth with money and beutiful things. remember all those student union leaders of those days. where are they? They are either being compromised or marginalised. As I am writing this piece I am yet to find (pending the conclusion of some research) how we are going divest this oldies of the monopoly of powers. Let us keep brainstorming and hope that we will eventually find an everlasting answer to our questions of what we the youth are able to do to rescue our country from this dodgy politicians. My instict tells me that something will happen like a divine intervention and swept al this people away, so we might as well start praying honestly for that divine intervention to come very quickly. May God continue to be with all of us and our great country Nigeria. |

nurexg: @ nurexg I will like to second this. But now that ASUU have called off their strike, I will be leaving for school and won't be able to partake actively. But I still believe that the only way to go about this is to join existing political parties for now before the "rebellion". I agree with whatever you guys decide and will be checking once in a while for updates. |

Not a bad idea. If we can do it here and keep our motive tight den we wld achieve success. |
Re: To All Nigerian Youths by Nobody: 9:13am On Jul 03, 2007 |
Not all of us should be politicains. My point is be a star in any feild you are. El-Rufai, Ribadau and Soludo were not politicains, they were Technocrats who were deligent in their duties and thus were picked to serve which they did credibly to shame the old tired people. Some of us who are Politically inclined should join the parties and work towards wrestling power from the elders and those who are Professionals should work hard to make a difference where they work. Good Governance consists of not only Credible politicians but professional and dutiful technocrates. I am working on a project now, which if it succeds, we will be able to produce 100 intellectually and morally sound youths every year. Lets start by contributing our little quota, one step at a time. |

well, we are all rite , contributing in our own way will not be enugh, cos the time will take us to make effect on the society will be long, so to lets start a movement here on niaraland, we that have access can start it, then later when we have a representive in all the states in the country. then they can now host a meting at there place, then later post the conclusion for ther meeting, belive me this will work. I am a computer analyst, i nowhow virtual world works and i belive it will work for us. And if all of us can agree to this it will result to a big time movement and we have no cause to regreat this moves. cos there are lot of starategies that this things can be archieve. Sharing experience and knowledge will bring efficiency and effectiveness and everyone need not reinvent the "wheel" again and again. thanks. |
